The Korean National University of Arts, School of Film, TV & Multimedia, having the 10th anniversary this year, and Beijing Film Academy (BFA), the largest institution of higher learning for film and television production in Asia, kicks off the project on a 'Korean-and-Chinese Students' short film production.
Starting from February this year, professors of each academy visited each other, and student production team of the Korean National University of Arts, School of Film, TV & Multimedia departed to Beijing to prepare for shooting.
Designated project team of each academy is to start shooting at the same time in Seoul and Beijing for about four weeks starting from this week.
Korean team of the Korean National University of Arts, including director Goo Hyuck-tan (Professional, majored in photographing) and producer Kim Min-soo (Professional, majored in planning) has departed to Beijing on Nov. 11 so as to join the production and supports team selected from Beijing Film Academy. They will be shooting 'Jumping'(DV6mm, running time: about 15 min.) written by director Goo Hyuck-tan by early December.
During their stay in Beijing of about 4 weeks, they will go through the first week of preparation, next two weeks of shooting and the last week of post work and return to Korea.
Chinese team of Beijing Film Academy including director Gui Guan and producer Wang Zhi will be working on another Korean-and-Chinese short flim, entitled 'Midnight Motel (temporary)' (DV6mm, running time: about 15 min.) for four weeks.
Following after visit of professor Kim Sung-soo and professor Pyun Jang-wan of the Korean National University of Arts to Beijing last October, Xie Shaojing, Vice-Principal and professor of Beijing Film Academy is planned to visit Korea for three days from Nov. 10.
He will visit the filming location to cheer up the Chinese team as well as the Korean National University of Arts, School of Film, TV & Multimedia in order to discuss how to maintain the business and foster collaboration between the two academies.
This project is designed to help young students studying filming in Korea and China experience the process of filming of both countries and establish human network.
'Korean-and-Chinese Students' two short films, each produced in Seoul and Beijing, will open in Spring next year.
