The Korean hit movie 'Welcome to Dongmakgol' by Director Park Kwang-hyeon will be presented to the 78th American Academy Awards as the Korean pick to compete in the Foreign Language Film category.
According to the Korean Film Council the movie was chosen among other megabox movies such as 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance' by Director Park Chan-wook which was recently invited to this year's Venice Film Festival.
Only one movie from each country can be recommended to the Academy and in Korea, the Korean Film Council has the right to evaluate and decide which one best represents the nation.
No Korean movie has yet passed the preliminary session which picks five nominees to enter the Foreign Language Film category.
