Farewell to Sorrow, which finished its broadcast run exactly on January 1, 2006, continues the hallowed tradition of hit weekend dramas. The stellar cast includes talented veterans Oh Su Yeon, Gyeon Mi Ri (Ju Mong), Kang Nam Gil (Palace), and Yoon Yeo Jung (Ruler of Your Own World); established young stars Park Sun Young (The 101st Proposal) and Lee Jong Won (Trap of Youth); and small screen newcomers Shin Dong Wook (Soulmate) and Shinhwa's Kim Dong Wan.

The Han family brothers have been feuding for years, but they must now come together to save the family business. Head of the family, the middle-aged eldest brother Sung Jae (Kang Nam Gil) is kind-hearted, but not very capable when it comes to business management. In his forties, the successful and self-centered second brother Sung Kyu (Kim Il Woo) wants to escape his family duties. In his thirties, third brother Sung Min (Lee Jong Won) got restructured out of a job, but tries hard to maintain his pride. Along with the cheerful and determined Jung Woo (Kim Dong Wan), an unemployed recent graduate, the four men of the Han family represent the hardships that face four generations of Korean men. From career obstacles to relationship challenges to family pains, A Farewell to Sorrow presents a realistic, lighthearted portrayal of modern life.

This release is divided into two volumes with 10 DVDs each.

This is a story about the unconditional and all-forgiving love of four brothers who after years of fighting and hatred pull together and reconcile to revive their father’s business. The four brothers, each representing different generations, symbolize ordinary people living in today’s world: Han Sung-jae, the soft-hearted but incapable oldest brother in his 50s, who shoulders the heavy burden of being the head of the family; Han Sang-kyu, the accomplished but selfish second brother in his 40s, who only thinks of getting rid of his family responsibilities; Han Sung-min, the third brother in his 30s who lost his job due to corporate restructuring; and, finally, Han Jung-woo, the youngest one who has just graduated from college and is yet unemployed.

The lives of these four siblings represent the hardships of the unemployed of various generations. This series also asks the question about the genuine meaning of marriage by showing how married couples of various age groups work on their relationships to avert divorce.
