After her father dies, So-hee (Kim Hee-sun) writes letters to him believing he has gone to Mars instead of Heaven. Her kind-hearted neighbor Seung-jae (Shin Ha-kyun) does not want to let this innocent girl down and starts writing back to her posing as her father. Years later, this young girl turns into a successful career woman and the helpful young man becomes a postman. Even though these two people may seem to be worlds apart in, Seung-jae still saves his heart for So-hee while So-hee gets lost in her 24-7-business world. One day this young lady who once believed her father had gone to Mars finally finds out who always writes back letters sealed with love. But Seung-jae is now out of sight

a man who went to mars
| The story is touching. The scenery is beautiful. The main character is a simple loving person who touches your heart deeply. It also gives an insight of traditional Korean village life. However the ending could be better but it is a lovely story you can talk about afterwards. |

Disliked the ending...
| I thought the development of the story was great for much of the movie, but I didn't like the ending because it was too unrealistic, and the movie crossed into the territory of "unbearable sappiness." (Basically I disagreed with its treatment of death and of the afterlife.) |

Excellent
| I love this movie, which is a real suprise. Few decent movies have been coming out lately, but this one is different. It is a sweet story about a man's childhood love. The countryside scenary is really nice, and the soundtrack is beautiful. Shin Ha Kyun is a great actor, and Kim Hee Sun did a really good job too. She's not exactly known for being the best actress, but I enjoyed her here. Definately give this one a try. It's a simple, but touching melodrama. |
