The allure of forbidden love reigns supreme in the long-awaited motion picture, April Snow! Mega-popular actor Bae Yong Joon, star of the smash hit Korean drama Winter Sonata, headlines this highly anticipated romance directed by Heo Jin Ho, the man behind such acclaimed films as One Fine Spring Day and Christmas in August.

Released in Korea and Japan simultaneously, the film centers on In Su (Bae Yong Joon) as he travels to Korea's east coast after discovering that his wife Su Jin (Im Sang Hyo) was critically injured in a car accident. To In Su's surprise, it seems that she was traveling with a man named Kyung Ho (Ryoo Seung Soo, from The President's Barber), and both of them now lie in the operating room as they undergo treatment for their injuries. While waiting for news of his wife's condition, In-Su meets the man's wife, Seo-Young (Son Ye Jin, from A Moment to Remember), and together the two of them piece together the devastating truth: their spouses were having an affair.

Deeply upset by this shocking revelation, the duo's world spins out of control, as they both come to grips with their feelings of sorrow and betrayal. After several chance encounters, the two become closer. Both stay at the same dingy motel, and soon enough, they forge a deep connection. Will they act on their feelings for each other? And if they do succumb to their passions, will it be out of revenge or out of love? The answers await in Heo Jin Ho's April Snow, the stirring romance that swept Asia by storm!

Professional Review of "April Snow Limited Edition"

Let us get this out of the way early. For the wrong reasons, April Snow is a film that will forever sit in the shadow of Wong Kar Wai’s stylish romantic tragedy In The Mood For Love. During a highly unusual snowstorm in late spring, a car accident leaves a local man dead, and a man and woman from Seoul beat up badly and in comas. In Su works as a lighting co-ordinator for pop concerts, and has to leave right in the middle of setting up a large concert due to a phone call informing him his wife has been injured. When he gets there, he meets Seo Young, a woman attending to her comatose husband. For both of them, the abrupt situation is both tragic, and also very awkward. Their spouses were in the car together, driving drunk to an unknown location. This is never clearer than when they have to sift though a bag of possessions recovered from the car. Which one of their spouses owned the condom? On the cellular phones and digital camera, In Su and Seo Young find intimate phone... [Read more]

    - This professional review refers to April Snow (DTS Version) (2-Disc Special Edition) (Hong Kong Version).
From Hur Jin Ho, director of Christmas in August and One Fine Spring Day, comes April Snow, a highly-anticipated starring vehicle for Korean megastar Bae Yong Joon, riding high on the success of the TV drama Winter Sonata and its ubiquitous Pan-Asian popularity. Bae stars alongside Son Yae Jin (A Moment to Remember, The Classic) in this surprisingly affecting romantic drama. Plot-wise, April Snow revolves around a car crash that ends up leaving a man dead and a happy couple in a coma. However, things are a little more complicated for the survivors, considering the fact that the two lovers are in fact married to other people.

In response to the accident, concert lighting coordinator In Su (Bae Yong Joon) and housewife Seo Young (Son Yae Jin) rush to the hospital to wait by the bedside of their comatose loved ones. As they sort out their respective spouses' possessions, they slowly come to grips with the horrible truth. Discovering a c... [Read more]

Like a lot of Japanese movies in the old days, the pace is very very slow and dialogue was kept to a minimum. There are no ups and downs, nor were there any twists or turns. At times it could be boring. I like pure love stories too but I must say that the love scenes here were really well performed. Bae is in great form. You can see why he is so popular in Japan. The female lead Son has a little way to go yet. The story was just roughly wrapped up at the end as if it was time's up.

    A slow dramaCustomer Review Rated 4 out of 10Sunday, January 14, 2007

I find it so hard to believe that people are so narrow minded as to rate this film on the love scene just because it has a certain actor in it or call a movie bad just because it's slow paced...go buy some action movies or porn!
April Snow is not a great movie but it is a touching movie. It makes you think how you would deal with this situation, the person you love may die but they have also betrayed you.
The growing closeness of In Su & Seo-Young is understandable and not as another review said "revenge" and is quite interesting to watch. But over all the lacking ending leaves the film feeling flat. Great movie to watch once.

I loved the movie specifically because it was slow. Not a lot of unnecessary conversations, just ordinary, usuall talk with the people around you. That's how we talk anyway. Also, melancholic people which obviously both characters were, are typically like this. They tend to deal with grief silently and that is just how I've come to love this movie.Their eyes, their expressions and body language seems to say it all. It's like, when you're so consumed with anger and hate and sadness, it's just so hard to put it into words. And that's exactly what the movie was trying to say.Falling in-love in the most unexpected circumstance is what April Snow's all about.

    p.s.
Credits to the actors in this movie. That's probably why I prefer watching foreign films because you don't see "celebrities" acting. You see the characters of the story.
