They say the first impressions are the most lasting.
The Chungmuro blue chip directors whose first movies have made big hits are acting as tow trucks for the revival of Korean movies. As "Transformers 3" has gathered 2,000,000 admissions in the weekend only, the Korean directors are preparing to strike back.
Director Jang Hoon appeared in Chungmuro like a comet with the 2008 movie "Rough Cut" and is looking forward to the release "The Front Line" on the 21st. He also displayed steady directing with actors Song Kang-ho and Kang Dong-won in the movie "Secret Union" last year.
"The Front Line" is Jang Hoon's third project and pushed forward the highlands where the Korean War saw its last as the main character. With 10 billion won invested, the cast includes Sin Ha-gyoon, Ryoo Seung-soo, Ko Chang-seok, Lee Je-hoon, Lee David, Kim Ok-bin and more.
"The Front Line" side claimed, "Jang Hoon will show the challenge in the Korean War through the battle that happened at last in the highlands".
Director Kim Han-min was awarded the Cheong Ryong Rookie Director Award and the Best Script in 2007 for the movie "Paradise Murdered". After "Hand Phone", he is attempting at a historical for the first time on the 11th of August with "Arrow, The Ultimate Weapon".
"Arrow, The Ultimate Weapon" is about Chosun's best archer Nam Ee (Park Hae-il) who gets involved in the Manchu War of 1636 on his sister Ja In's (Moon Chae-won) wedding day. This movie involved 9 billion won and over 400 horses. "Arrow, The Ultimate Weapon" side said, "Director Kim Han-min and Jang Chun-seob art director gathered means to create a traditional historical and focused on emphasizing the Chosun's elegance.
Director Kang Hyeong-cheol who re-wrote Korean movie history with the 2008 "Speedy Scandal", gathering a total of 8,000,000 audiences is doing it again with "Sunny - 2010". Coming in next to "Transformers 3" in the Box Office, it is continuously drawing in audiences to theaters. Director Kang Hyeong-cheol is being judged that he has a sense for creating movies that blend in well with music and Korean sentiment.
