Ask any K-drama fan to name a famous fictional bodyguard and you will most likely get Lee Jung Jae from Sandglass. Now adding his own name onto the list is none other than Korea's best comic actor Cha Seung Won (Jail Breakers, Small Town Rivals) who stars in the 2003 KBS drama Bodyguard. Cha brings much realism to his role as a disheartened bodyguard who learns the hard way the art of balancing professional and private affairs. Lim Eun Kyung (Conduct Zero, Resurrection of the Little Match Girl) makes her first small screen appearance playing Cha's love interest. Bodyguard takes a close, realistic look at the world of bodyguards, dispelling some of the stigma surrounding the profession. The drama also features a stunning lineup of supporting actors like Song Il Kook (Jumong) who explodes onscreen with his tough charisma, Ha Ko Eun (Capital Scandal, Love And Ambition) as the sexy female bodyguard, Lee Sae Eun (Be Strong, Geum Soon!, Dae Jang Geum) as the spoiled celebrity, and rocker-turned-actress Maya in her first acting gig.

Forced to retire from his old job as a result of his supervisor's malicious scheme, former presidential bodyguard Kyung Tak (Cha Seung Won) now works at his parents' restaurant. His life makes a drastic turn when he saves someone's life. It turns out that "someone" is a client of a female bodyguard Yoo Jin (Han Ko Eun) who works for Sung Soo (Song Il Kook), the CEO of a large security company. Impressed by Kyung Tak's professional finesse, Sung Soo offers him a bodyguard position. Meanwhile, Na Young (Lim Eun Kyung) moves into Kyung Tak's neighborhood with her grandmother and befriends Kyung Tak's sister, Kyung Mi (Maya), who plays cupid between the two.

상사의 모함으로 강제전역하게 된 경탁(차승원 분)은 하는 일마다 꼬여 인생이 잘 풀리지 않는 백수다. 지금은 별다른 직업 없이 감자탕을 하는 집안의 일을 도와주며 일자리를 알아보고 있다. 여러 가지 일자리를 찾던 중 경탁은 경호업체의 보디가드인 유진(한고은 분)의 의뢰인을 위험에서 구해준다. 경호업체 사장인 성수(송일국 분)는 그 광경을 보고, 경탁에게 관심있으면 회사를 찾아달라고 말한다. 한편 나영(임은경 분)은 외조모(김영옥 분)와 함께 경탁의 동네로 이사를 오고, 경탁의 동생인 경미(마야 분)와 친구가 되는데...
