Actress and director Choo Sang-mi, 38, gave birth to her first child, a healthy baby boy, on Dec. 6 at a hospital in Seoul. The newborn weighed in at 3.8 kilograms (8.4 pounds) and both the mother and child are "doing fine", according to local media.
Choo's husband, musical actor Lee Seok-joon, was said to be present for the birth, cancelling his performance on "Musical Eyagi Show Season 2".
The couple met in 2003 when they acted as leads in the German musical "Die Leiden des jungen Werthers" and married in 2007.
The actress had been referring to her unborn child as "Rising Star" on Twitter as she vented her excitement leading up to the birth.
