Four Korean films have been selected to screen at the Oporto International Fantastic Film Festival in Portugal, more commonly known as Fantasporto. The festival's 28th edition will feature Park Ki-hyeong's "Acacia", Kim Ji-woon's A Tale of Two Sisters, and Lee Jong-hyeok's "H" in its main competition section, as well as Baek Woon-hak's "Tube" in a special competitive section for new directors.
Fantasporto is one of the world's most widely-known "fantastic" film festivals, devoted to genre cinema in general and horror/sci-fi in particular. This year's edition will be held from February 20-28.
In past years the festival has bestowed several awards on Korean cinema, including a Special Jury Prize for Kim Ki-duk's "The Isle" in 2000, a Best Actress award for Seo Jeong (The Isle), as well as a Best Director (Yoon Jong-chan), Special Jury Prize and Best Actress (Jang Jin-yeong) award for "Sorum" in 2001. Last year's invitees included "2009 Lost Memories", "Volcano High", "Say Yes", and Elysium.
