[DVD Review] You Il-han's horror short given a lackluster adaptation

"4 Horror Tales" was the 2006 summer season's top-line experiment of producing four horror movies based on Yoo Il-han's short stories on the cheap in high definition video. The tab was picked up by CJ Entertainment and TV station SBS. Yoo himself was involved as executive producer, teaming up with Korea's resident horror specialist Ahn Byeong-ki ("Phone", "A.P.T", among others) and giving opportunities to four young directors to scare up the audience in theaters as well as on TV screens.

The first installment "February 29 - 4 Horror Tales" might be of interest to the fans of "Dae Jang Geum" ("Jewel in the Palace"), a mega-hit Korean TV drama, since two among its main cast members, Im Ho (who played the Choseon monarch Joongjong) and Park Eun-hye (Jang-geum's friend Yeon-saeng), star in the movie....| More

Position to Participate in 'Dae Jang Geum' Concert

Singer Position (Lim Jae-wook) will participate in the "Dae Jang Geum" concert slated for August 11 in Japan.

The concert will be dedicated to the popular Korean TV drama "Dae Jang Geum" and will take place at the Tokyo Dome. Performers will include Shin Seung-hoon and Japanese folk star Ryoko Moriyama.

Position has been staying in Japan since June after giving a solo concert in Korea. He is currently preparing to release a new album in Japan.

The singer's agency said Position will sing "I Love You" at the upcoming concert in Tokyo.

Part one of the "Dae Jang Geum" concert will feature the drama's cast, including Lee Young-ae, Ji Jin-hee, Yeo Woon-kye, Im Ho, Kyeon Miri and Im Hyeon-sik, while the second part will consist of a special concert and a royal costume show....| More

'Dae Jang Geum' festival to be held in Japan

'Dae Jang Geum Festival', featuring music and dance, videos, etc. of the most popular Hallyu drama series 'Dae Jang Geum', will be held on August 11th at Tokyo Dome.

The event which is being sponsored by the Korea Tourism Organization will feature the main actors and actresses including Lee Young-ae, Ji Jin-Hee, Im Ho, Kyeon Miri, Yeo Woon-kye, Im Hyeon-sik, Jo Jeong-eun, Kim So-i, and others who will greet fans on stage and deliver a message of appreciation.

Shin Seung Hoon will also perform his hit song 'I Believe' and others while Moriyama Ryoko who released a Hallyu drama OST will perform a song from the Dae Jang Geum OST.

The cast will ride the special "Dae Jang Geum" plane provided by Asiana Airlines as part of their Hallyu marketing going from Gimpo to Japan.

Stamps featuring Lee Young-ae to Be Released in Japan

Sets of stamps featuring hallyu star/actress Lee Young-ae will be printed in Japan, making the headlines in that country.

Sets of photographic stamps featuring the South Korean TV drama "A Jewel in the Palace" ("Dae Jang Geum"), which is being currently aired on NHK to popular reviews, will be released in Japan on Apr. 28.

Each set consists of ten 80-yen (about 1,020 won) stamps. The first set features ten different kinds of photographs of Lee, while the other set showcases the photographs of other actors in the drama, including actor Im Ho, who played King Jungjong (the 11th king of the Joseon Dynasty).

The sets of stamps will be released almost concurrently with Lee's pending visit to Japan. She is expected to appear on NHK's live program entitled "Live Show from Our Studio in a Park: How Are You?" (スタジオパ-クからこんにちは) on May 8 and hold a large-scale fan meeting.

'Dae Jang Geum' exhibit in Tokyo

A charity event inspired by the Korean TV drama "Dae Jang Geum" will be held in Tokyo May 2-14 at the Mitsukosi department store in Nihonbasi.

Hosted by Japan's public broadcaster NHK, it will display a full-scale replica of the royal kitchen set seen in the drama. Also on display will be the stunning original costumes and props sponsored by MBC, a Korean TV network which made the popular drama starring actress Lee Young-ae who portrayed a royal chef-turned-doctor.

Actor Im Ho who played the role of the king will participate in the opening ceremony and hold a news conference.

"Daejanggeum" is currently aired by NHK in Japan.
