In recent years, there have been some significant reverberations of the Korean cultural wave, Hallyu, at India's doorsteps. In July 2006, the Korean Drama Emperor of the Sea was for the first time introduced in India by the national broadcaster DD-1. In September 2006, another Korean drama Jewel in the Palace began to be aired on DD-1. These two Korean dramas have received a good response from Indian audiences so far. Furthermore, many Korean musical and theater troops have visited India in recent times and Korean cultural products have been gradually making their way into India.
However, the most striking and powerful manifestation of Hallyu could be seen in the Northeastern states of India, particularity in the state of Manipur. Actors who starred in movies written by Guiyeoni have become top stars in the movie industry. These stars are Kang Dong-won, Jo Han-seon, Song Seung-heon, and Jang Geun-seok.
"Temptation of Wolves" helped Kang Dong-won and Jo Han-seon, who were new actors then, to rise to the top. They played high school students. Kang Dong-won captured the hearts of high school girls with his perfect looks, and Jo Han-seon captured audiences with his tough, rebel image. After this movie, they have been cast in various movies and have become top actors.
Song Seung-heon was in "The Guy Was Cool" as a rebellious high school student and acted with Jeong Da-bin, who is now deceased. He played a trustworthy boyfriend who always helped his girlfriend to get out of trouble. Although he was rough to other friends, he was affectionate toward his girlfriend. Another Korean heartthrob, actor Kim Rae-won, 26, is stepping up his activities in Japan.
Kim stars in a Japanese movie named "Hanakage" (Flower Shadow) directed by Hayato Kawai.
He plays an elementary school teacher who falls in love with a Korean-Japanese jewelry designer played by Mirai Yamamoto. Filmed in both Korea and Japan, this movie depicts international love.
Kim debuted in MBC's teen drama "Me" (1996) and is known for his role in the TV romantic comedy "Cat on the Roof" (2003), in which late Jeong Da-bin starred as his counterpart. He also appeared in movies like "Mister Socrates" (2005) and "Sunflower" (2006).
He currently shoots Korean TV soap opera "Gourmet" ("Sikgaek") based on Heo Yeong-man's popular cartoon. "Sikgaek" will be aired in April on SBS.

 The first-anniversary memorial service for Jeong Da-bin, who committed suicide last year, is has taken on 10th, on her death day. The service is going to be held at 2 o'clock afternoon in An-sung Utopia memorial service center.
The spokesman from the center informed, "Her family and fans will be attending the service, as well as about 10 close colleagues of hers and some representatives from her agency".
Jeong Da-bin was found dead in her boyfriend (actor Kang Hee)'s bathroom, hanged dead on 10th February, last year.

Alarm bells are ringing in Korea's entertainment business after the apparent suicides of pop singer U;Nee and actress Jeong Da-bin within three weeks of each other.
Agencies are clearly worried. While the stars ostensibly enjoy wealth and fame, they are also more at risk than ordinary people because their kudos can vanish in an instant. The fickle nature of the business brings its attendant anxieties, especially for women, experts say.
The actress Choi Jin-sil recalls the envy of other performers when she was a teen star. "You may think that the happiest moments come with the 'golden time' of celebrity", she says.
