Ahn Seong-gi cast in a film for wide international release

Actor Ahn Seong-gi continues his high profile career with a role in a big budget international co-production. The project is an adaptation of novelist KIM Hoon's "The Song of the String". According to the studio Yeonghwa Saenggak, the film will be released internationally on 3,000 screens spread out over Asia, Europe and North America.

KIM Dae-woo will direct and producer/director JOO Kyeong-joong is attached to the film as a producer, he will be assisted by the Japanese producer Satoru Iseki. The soundtrack will be a collaboration between Ennio Morricone and KIM Soo-cheol. "The Song of the String" is financed internationally. Filming is expected to commence from March and will take place in Korea and China.

Ahn Seong-gi to Play Lead in Mega Joint Film

Veteran actor Ahn Seong-gi will play the lead role in the 10 billion won (US$10 million) mega joint film 'The Song of the String'.

The production agency Younghwa Saenggak said director Kim Dae-woo will readapt the same-titled Kim Hoon novel and director Joo Kyeong-joong will produce the film. Ahn will play court musician Wooreuk.

Ennio Morricone and Kim Soo-cheol will produce the soundtrack and Japanese producer Satoru Iseki will also participate. The multinational project is partially funded from overseas.

The film is scheduled to open in 3,000 screens in Korea, Asia, Europe and North America during next year's latter half.

Memories of Murder wins Critics Choice Awards

Director BONG Joon-ho's acclaimed Memories of Murder was the big winner at the 23rd Critics Choice Awards, held on November 13. The film was presented with the Best Picture, Best Director (BONG Joon-ho) and Best Actor (SONG Kang-ho) awards. The award ceremony is presented each year by the Korean Film Critics Association.

Other awards included LEE Mi-sook (Untold Scandal) for Best Actress, LIM Sang-soo (A Good Lawyer's Wife) for Best Screenplay, and JANG Joon-hwan (Save the Green Planet) for Best New Director. PARK Hae-il was named Best New Actor for his role in Jealousy is My Middle Name, while IM Soo-jeong from A Tale of Two Sisters won Best New Actress.

The Korean Film Critics' Association also chooses an annual list of "10 Best Korean Films". This year's selections, in no particular order, are:
