TV Program Omits Part About Singer Yoo

Singer Steve Seungjun Yoo's attempt at a comeback ― his second one in seven years ―has failed yet again.

The 32-year-old was to appear in MBC's "Never Ending Story" on July 30, as part of a documentary about Chinese action star Jackie Chan. However, after the appearance of Yoo became known, strong public opinion against him made the production team cut out the segment featuring the singer.

"The program is about Jackie Chan. We thought a scene of Chan meeting Yoo wouldn't cause such a big problem. However, considering the public opinion, we made the final decision to leave it out", a staff member on the program said.

Yoo was the reigning idol star when in 2002, he chose American citizenship just before he was supposed to begin his Korean military service. The move created a backlash that ultimately resulted in him being barred from re-entry into Korea.

KBS2TV's drama 'Woman of the Sun' is about Sa-Weol (Lee Ha-na)'s undeserved, difficult life.

Shown in the 9th episode, Sa-Weol, born as Ji-Young and the long lost daughter of Jeong-Hee doesn't know that the lady who tips her at the mall for helping her 'false' daughter shop for clothes and hold her bags to the cafe is really Jeong-Hee, her real mother. And Do-Young (Kim Ji-soo) who just finds out that Sa-Weol is her real sister just watches this happening without saying anything because Sa-Weol doesn't remember her past. So Do-Young decides to let her live as she does. Sa-Weol, as she returns home murmurs to herself that she misses her mother.

Viewer rating of Iljimae Surpasses 20 Percent

The viewer rating of the SBS TV drama "Iljimae", starring Lee Joon-ki, has surpassed 20 percent for its 7th episode, cementing the show's position as the most popular Mon/Tues TV drama.

According to AGB Nelson Media Research on Thursday, the average viewer rating of Iljimae's Wednesday episode was higher than 20 percent. MBC's "Spotlight" and KBS 2TV's "Sisters in Love", which also aired in the same slot, recorded viewer ratings of 10.1 percent and 10.5 percent, respectively.

Iljimae's Wednesday episode showed hero Yong-ee's attempts to transform into Iljimae. Yong-ee, who falls into despair as he witnesses his long-lost sister being executed, vows to avenge his father's death.

There has been another change in the dynamics of the Wed/Thur TV dramas along with Iljimae's soaring popularity. "Women in the Sun" has begun to move ahead of Spotlight, albeit by small margins.
