"Portrait of a Beauty", an upcoming romantic film about gifted artists during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) started its 10-day shoot in Andong, North Gyeongsang, a city is known for its historic scenery.

The movie is based on the true-life story of the artist Shin Yun-bok, whose paintings satirized yangban, or noblemen, during the latter half of the 18th century.

The film sees Shin (Kim Min-seon) dress as a man, since female artists in those days had to battle male chauvinism. Shin's teacher, Kim Hong-do (Kim Yeong-ho), provides the love interest.


Album sales to support starving North Korean kids

Actor Cha In-pyo and some 40 popular singers including In Soon-e and Park Sang-min will record a joint album, "Cry with Us", to help raise money for North Korean children.

The shortage of food in North Korea is an on-going global issue and all proceeds from album sales will go to help relieve the crisis, according to Korea Entertainment Producer's Association on Monday.

Kim Min-seon, Shin Yun-bok casting - acting competition with Moon Geun-yeong

Actress Kim Min-seon was cast as artist Shin Yun-bok in "Le Grand Chef" Director Jeon Yoon-soo's next work "Portrait of a Beauty". This movie started with the idea that artist Shin Yun-bok of the Choseon era was really a woman dressed as a man. Although she had great talent, she had no choice but to dress as a man because she was a woman. It is a movie about the love story that surrounds her painting 'Portrait of a Beauty'.

Kim Min-seon, who was cast as Shin Yun-bok, will compete with Moon Geun-yeong, who is currently filming SBS "Painter of the Wind", which is a drama with a similar story.

In order to play the role of the genius artist Shin Yun-bok, Moon Geun-yeong is learning calligraphy and Korean art.

"Portrait of a Beauty" will start filming on May 31, and will aim to premiere this fall around the same time as "Painter of the Wind", which will air in September.

Ha Jeong-woo - Kim Hye-soo, 1st for this year's 'wonderful face'

Photographers picked Ha Jeong-woo and Kim Hye-soo for having the most 'wonderful face'.

The movie entertainment weekly magazine Movie Week held its annual 'Wonderful Face 25', and the two were the top two males and females. It is Ha Jeong-woo's first time, and it is Kim Hye-soo's second time after 2006.

The order is determined by Korea's photographers and photo reporters, who see the stars' faces closest. Movie Week asked them to pick three males and three females who had a 'wonderful face for a subject for photography'.

This year, Jeong Ryeo-won was second, Jeon Do-yeon was third, Im Soo-jeong was fourth, and Kim Min-hee was fifth. Han Ye-seul, Kim Min-seon, Han Ji-min, Han Chae-young, Lee Yeon-hee, Bae Doona, Son Ye-jin, and Kim Tae-hee were also picked. "For Eternal Hearts" Invited to Tokyo Int'l Film Festival

The movie "For Eternal Hearts" starring Jeong Kyeong-ho, Kim Min-seon and Cha Soo-yeon has been invited to the "Winds of Asia" category of the Tokyo International Festival, which opens Oct. 20.

Launched in 1985, the festival has emerged as one of Asia's top film festivals, along with the Pusan International Film Festival.

"Winds of Asia" screens outstanding movies from the entire Asian region, including the Middle East. This year, it chose Korea's "For Eternal Hearts".

Jeong Kyeong-ho will visit Japan Oct. 20 to walk the red carpet of the festival and meet with viewers on Oct. 21-22 after the movie's screening. ...| More

They say first loves never die, and "For Eternal Hearts" immortalizes onscreen the allure and power of youthful passions. Dreams and remembrances delightfully converge in this haunting love story that transcends the borders of life and death, and leaps over the passage of time.

Su-yeong (Jeong Jin-yeong) is a quiet, middle-aged professor of German literature at a local university. At the request of his students, he reminiscently recounts his first love that stole his heart during his college days. As a young man Su-yeong was shy, naive and studious (Jeong Kyeong-ho).
