Biography KIM graduated from the Department of Theater and Cinema in Hanyang University. He was cinematographer on the short film “Hibernation” (1998, JUNG Yoon-chul) and several feature films, such as< Flower Island > (2001, SONG Il-gon) and < Wanee & Junah >(2001, KIM Yong-kyun). His directorial debut, (2003), concentrated on Korean-Japanese students of the Chosen school in Japan. On the red carpet of the "5th MaxMovie Film Awards", the drama "New Heart"'s golden supporting actor, Park Cheol-min received the warmest welcome from the fans.
In Gun-dae Lotte Cinema, the "5th MaxMovie Film Awards" took place on 14th with a high attendance from many stars, directors, audiences and fans.
Park Cheol-min, who is currently appearing in the drama "New Heart"'s as chief resident, Bae Dae-ro was chosen by the audience as the "Best male supporting actor", reflecting his enormous popularity among the fans. In a black suit with a red bow tie, he smiled and said his thanks, "I just couldn't believe how I am loved at the moment. "May 18" had over 7.5 million audiences, "New Heart" reached over 30% viewing rate and all my plays are sold out everyday. The fans are giving overwhelming love and supports. The 2nd annual France Korean Film Festival (Festival Franco-Coréen du Film) will take place Dec 12 -18 in Paris. Presented in partnership with Association 1886, an organization of young students and filmmakers from France and Korea, the goal of the festival is to promote fresh and promising creative talent in Korea.
The event will screen ten features (five documentaries and five fiction works) from young directors along with ten short films. Included in this year's program are the award-winning festival favorite "Family Ties" ("The Birth of a Family") by KIM Tae-yong, Pusan premiere "Before The Summer Passes Away" by SEONG Ji-hye in her feature debut, YOON Jong-bin's "The Unforgiven" which screened in Cannes Un Certain Regard, NOH Dong-seok's Boys of Tomorrow.

The Korean Film Council will hold a showcase of Korean movies in Japan to introduce Korean cinematography in the neighboring country.
Nine outstanding films will be screened in Japan Dec. 8-14 under the auspices of the Japanese company Cinequanon, which has contributed greatly to promoting the Korean Wave.
The nine movies include "200 Pounds Beauty", which is to open in Japan Dec. 15, as well as "Family Ties" ("The Birth of a Family") by director Kim Tae-yong, "Paradise Murdered" ("Paradise 1986") by Kim Han-min, "Beyond the Years" by Im Kwon-taek, "Bunt" by Park Gyoo-tae, the documentary film "Flight" ("Bi-sang") by Im Yoo-cheol, Hwang Dong-hyeok's "My Father", Lee Hae-yeong and Lee Hae-joon's "Like a Virgin" and Kim Myeong-joon's documentary film "Our School".

The Theatre Image Forum in the Shibuya district of Tokyo introduced the unique world of Korean independent films to Japanese audiences last week. Titled Korean Independent Cinema 2007, the event ran August 25th – 31st, showcasing three feature-length and 31 short films, drawing large crowds.
Curator Tony Rayns, a London-based specialist in Asian cinema, programmed the event with three recent independent features, "Let's Finish!!!" By WANG Cheol-man, "Aseurai" by KIM Sam-ryeok, and "Our School" by KIM Myeong-joon. Of the three, the latter, a documentary about a South Korean who finds himself among the children of North Korean immigrants in Hokkaido, screened to a sold-out audience.

The fourth Korean Independent Cinema, an annual event aimed at introducing Korean independent films to the Japanese movie market, will open at Image Forum Theater in Shibuya, Tokyo, on Aug. 25 and run until Aug. 31.
A total of 34 independent films will be screened. The line-up will include two drama films, "Let's Finish" by Hwang Cheol-min and "Far Away" by Kim Sam-ryeok, as well as a documentary film, "Our School", by Kim Myeong-joon. Thirty-one animations will also be screened.
A discussion session with directors Kim Myeong-joon, Kim Sam-ryeok and Yoon Seong-ho, hosted by film critic Tony Rayns, will take place on Aug. 25.
