Producers of Popular TV Series 'Mom's Dead Upset' in Dilemma

"Mom's Dead Upset" is a popular drama series on KBS 2TV that boasts a high viewer rating of 30 percent. The producers of the drama, however, are facing a dilemma regarding when to end the series, as the cast and crew of the show are showing signs of fatigue and physical meltdown.

Writer Kim Su-hyun, the pillar of the show, underwent surgery late last year to remove breast cancer. Fortunately, the cancer was at an early stage so the operation was successful, but doctors say that the writer needs to rest.

Producer Jeong Eul-Yeong as well as actresses Kim Hye-ja and Sin Eun-kyeong have been complaining of extreme fatigue.

The show was originally planned to end at episode 69 at the end of September, but the cast of the show are asking to end it at episode 61 at the end of August.

Samhwa Production says when it signed the contract with KBS, the two sides agreed to end the show at episode seven, but present circumstances are calling for further negotiations....| More

Lee Jae-gyoo, Lee Yoon-jeong drama comeback

There is great interest for the works of star producers, which will be coming out at the end of this year.

They say dramas are works of the writers but the power of the producers is also noticeable. Either they work with famous writers such as Kim Su-hyun and Noh Hee-kyeong, or they excel in one genre, such as Director Lee Byeong-hoon of MBC "Yi San".

The first work is Director Lee Jae-gyu's "Beethoven Virus".

This work, starring Kim Myeong-min and Lee Ji-ah, dreams of being the Korean "Nodame Cantabile". Director Lee has shown his skill through MBC "Damo" and SBS "Fashion 70s". "Mom's Dead Upset" Viewer Ratings Exceeds 30%

Viewer ratings for "Mom's Dead Upset", a popular new TV series on KBS, has exceeded 30 percent since it first began airing two months ago.

According to AGB Nielsen Media Research, "Mom's Dead Upset" recorded nationwide viewer ratings of 30 percent on April 13. The drama also recorded viewer ratings of 30.1 percent in the metropolitan area and 31.6 percent in Seoul.

A study by TNS Media Research showed the drama's nationwide viewer ratings recorded 29.6 percent the same day.

The series is popular writer Kim Su-hyun's first drama in four years. The first episode of "Mom's Dead Upset" which aired on February 2, recorded viewer ratings of 25.3 percent.

The story is about a middle-class family of three generations that run a laundromat. "Angry Mom" Contract for 140,000 dollar cost per episode

The producing cost for each episode of the KBS drama "Angry Mom", written by Kim Su-hyun, is about 140,000 dollars.

The drama production enterprise Sam-hwa Networks announced that they reached agreements with KBS for a budget limit of about ten million dollars.

"Angry Mom" started airing as a weekend drama on February 2 and plans to be 70 episodes.
