SBS tackles the thorny matter of marriage in its latest drama, "I Love You - 2008", slated to hit the small screen on March 31.

A spin-off of Heo Yeong-man's hit comic book series "I Love You - 2008", SBS's new miniseries keeps it light and fuzzy in what promises to be a bold and cheeky take on the lives of three married couples.

At the press screening held on Feb. 14 at Sangam CGV, reporters and fans were treated to a two-hour sneak peek at this upcoming series.

Judging from the preview, "I Love You - 2008" ventures into risky territory from the get-go -- adultery, divorce, premarital sex and pregnancy, all within two hours, and, with a comic slant.

When asked about the implications of dealing with such serious matters so lightly, Hallyu star Ahn Jae-wook, who will be playing the lead, shrugged it off with a joke or two:

Animation industry holds its breath, waiting for new myth to appear

Will the 10-year myth work again? It's time for the Korean animation industry to find out.
The "myth" started 40 years ago when the first Korean animated feature "Hong Gil Dong - Animation" by director Shin Dong-heon opened in theaters and shocked audiences with its grand scale.

A newspaper in 1967 said that the length of the paper sheets used to make the film would be 3,459,000 centimeters long if laid end to end, or about 150 times the height of Mount Namsan. Four hundred people worked on the project for over a year. They did not have celluloid film so they recycled film stock obtained from a U.S. military base, using sodium hydroxide. The animated feature was the second-most-popular film that year.

"Dalja's Spring" Off to Good Start

KBS 2TV's new drama "Dalja's Spring" has been receiving positive responses since its first episode was aired on Wednesday. The comic melodrama revolves around the life of a 33-year-old single woman, Oh Dal-ja, to show the reality she faces as an "old maid" and the love she still dreams of one day having.

Chae Rim plays the female lead, with Lee Min-ki playing opposite her as Tae-bong, a man younger than her who has a crush on her. Singer and actor Lee Hyeon-woo plays Uhm Jung-ki, whose goal is to find a perfect and rational love. Other cast members include Kong Hyeong-jin and Lee Hye-young.

In the first episode, Dal-ja, naive and clumsy, falls in love with Shin Se-do (Kong Hyeong-jin), but to her disappointment soon finds that he is a playboy. She also encounters Tae-bong, whose job is to pose as a woman's boyfriend under contract. He will sign a contract with Dal-ja in later episodes.

Melodrama Queen Back as 10-Year-old Girl

Can melodrama queen Son Ye-jin portray a 10-year-old girl? The answer is "yes", and you can see for yourself in her upcoming feature film.

She returns to the big screen after last spring's television mini-series "Alone in Love", only this time as a voice actor for an animation movie, "Yobi, The Five Tailed Fox".

"I was so worried, as my character is a teenage girl. But I dubbed while thinking about things for children", Son said Friday during a new conference at Seoul Plaza Hotel in Seoul.

Son is best known for her pure and innocent image in melodramas on both the big and small screen like movies "The Classic" (2003) and television drama "Summer Scent".

She said voice acting was a challenging job as it was so different from what she had done in the past.

Chuseok comedies and other film fare

Theaters are being filled with an abundance of new movies a week before the Chuseok harvest holiday.
"Our Happy Time", starring Kang Dong-won and Lee Na-young, premiered two weeks ago and brought in about 1.2 million viewers during its first week of release.
Last week, six films in all, including two comedies ("Marrying the Mafia III" and "Moodori"), were released. The film industry follows a rule of thumb that comedies are the most successful type of film at the box office in holiday seasons; many are wondering if this will again be true this year.
The quintessential movie that follows this rule of thumb is "Marrying the Mafia III", directed by Jeong Yong-ki, which debuted Thursday. It is the sequel to the hit of the same name released at about this time last year,
