LEE Hae-joon, half of the directing duo of "Like a Virgin", announced the casting of his next film mr. Kimssineun Pyoroogi. JEONG Jae-yeong and actress JEONG Ryeo-won will be the lead actors.
The film seems likely to be financed by director/producer KANG Woo-seok. They are still preparing the shoot.
LEE directed "Like a Virgin" together with LEE Hae-yeong. Kimssineun Pyoorogi is about a man and a woman meeting at the Han river in Seoul it will be LEE's first time directing alone.
JEONG's filmography includes, "Someone Special" and "Welcome to Dongmakgol". JEONG starred in the film "2 faces of My Girlfriend".
The Korean Film Council will hold a showcase of Korean movies in Japan to introduce Korean cinematography in the neighboring country.
Nine outstanding films will be screened in Japan Dec. 8-14 under the auspices of the Japanese company Cinequanon, which has contributed greatly to promoting the Korean Wave.
The nine movies include "200 Pounds Beauty", which is to open in Japan Dec. 15, as well as "Family Ties" ("The Birth of a Family") by director Kim Tae-yong, "Paradise Murdered" ("Paradise 1986") by Kim Han-min, "Beyond the Years" by Im Kwon-taek, "Bunt" by Park Gyoo-tae, the documentary film "Flight" ("Bi-sang") by Im Yoo-cheol, Hwang Dong-hyeok's "My Father", Lee Hae-yeong and Lee Hae-joon's "Like a Virgin" and Kim Myeong-joon's documentary film "Our School".

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Pusan Promotion Plan (PPP), a project-support market that has been pivotal in the completion of award-winning films from major Asian directors. Now under the umbrella of the Asian Film Market, PPP will take place October 8th –11th, alongside the 12th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF), running October 4th to 12th.
Launched in 1998, PPP has sought to discover and support Asian independent films with the most promise. Since then, it has played an important role in introducing directors such as, AOYAMA Shinji, Jafar PANAHI, TSAI Ming-liang, KIM Ki-duk, HONG Sang-soo, Apichatpong WEERASETHAKUL, and ZHANG Lu.
In 2007 more than 200 submissions were received from which 35 project finalists representing 18 countries were selected. Upcoming actress HAN Hyo-joo received the Best Actress award at the 20th Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF) for her role in "Ad-Lib Night" (Ajoo Teukbyeolhan Sonnim). "Like a Virgin" (Cheonhajangsa Madonna) shares the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award with "Crossing the Dust".
"Ad-Lib Night" tells the story of a girl who agrees to pretend to be the daughter of a dying man. The film is directed by the acclaimed LEE Yoon-ki. LEE's two previous films are "This Charming Girl" (Yeoja, Jeonghye) and "Love Talk". "This Charming Girl"'s KIM Ji-soo previously received the Best Actress award at SIFF in 2005.
In "Like a Virgin" a boy joins a wrestling team. His aim is to win a wrestling competition and to use the prize money for a transsexual operation. The film is the directorial debut of LEE Hae-yeong and LEE Hae-joon. Like "Ad-Lib Night" for the promising HAN Hyo-joo, "Like a Virgin" has been a platform for the talented young actor RYOO Deok-hwan.
Inventive director JANG Jin portrays this time the relationship between an estranged father and son in his new film "A Day with My Son" (Adeul). The father is played by CHA Seung-won and the son is a role for RYOO Deok-hwan.
The drama will open May 3rd. A Day with My Son is a project by production company KnJ Entertainment and is distributed by Cinema Service.
JANG Jin has been influential as a scenario writer and director, and among his films are "Guns and Talks" (Killeodeului Sooda, 2001), "Someone Special" (Aneun Yeoja, 2004), "Righteous Ties" (Georookhan Gyebo, 2006) and he wrote the screenplay for "Welcome to Dongmakgol" (2005).
CHA has been successful as a comedy actor, but in recent years he has also built a reputation for dramatic roles, most notably with his performances in "Blood Rain" (Hyeorui Noo, 2005) and "Murder, Take One" ("The Big Scene" - Baksoochil Ttae Tteonara, 2005) another collaboration with JANG Jin.
