Lee Sang-woo has transformed from Koo Se-ju to 'Joon'.

Lee Sang-woo, who captured women's hearts in SBS "First Wives' Club", is attempting to capture female movie goers as an innocent, charming man in the movie "Beyond All Magic".

If Koo Se-ju in "First Wives' Club" was the wealthy, good-looking, well-mannered, ideal man, the Lee Sang-woo in "Beyond All Magic" is the awkward charming boy you remember as your first love.

Lee Sang-woo plays Joon, who provokes the evil intentions of three mother-daughter couples. With his lacking yet bright, uncorrupted spirit, he shows Nam-hee (Shin Hye-jin) the forgotten feelings of love, Kan-nan (Kim Soo-mi) the wonderful memories of her 20s, and Na-rae (Lee Da-hee) the importance of family.

'New husband' Jang Hyeok, Crazy about pictures after getting role of photographer

'New husband' Jang Hyeok is coming back to the screen after four years and is crazy about pictures.

Jang Hyeok is studying photography, for he will play a photographer in the movie "Penthouse Elephant", which starts filming in June.

In order to fully get into the role, he has been receiving private tutoring in photography.

He is showing his passion for photography, for the pictures he took himself will appear in the movie.

The movie "Penthouse Elephant" is about the friendship and the love of three men, and will reveal it in a fantastical and sensational sense. Lee Sang-woo and Jo Dong-hyeok were also cast.

Korean movies leap into box-office fray

In late April, Iron Man arrived in the Korean cinema, smashing the box office into very profitable pieces. In mid-May, Prince Caspian took the baton and kept up the pressure on Korean competitors. Last weekend, whip-wielding Indy joined the Hollywood-only party, roped in plenty of movie tickets sales.

The bombardment of Hollywood films dragged down the share of Korean films to a record low. But the bleak development was widely predicted since only a couple of new Korean releases were made. June might be slightly different, as eight Korean movies are set for release.

"Girl Scout", directed by Kim Sang-man, will hit theaters on June 5, featuring well-known actors such as Kim Seon-ah, Nah Moon-hee, Lee Kyeong-sil. The film will test whether the audiences still have an appetite for a chase-the-money drama with fewer funny moments than publicized.

Rotterdam fest to highlight various Korean films

The 37th International Film Festival Rotterdam, scheduled to run from January 23 to February 3, will present a broad selection of Korean films in its line-up.

Although no Korean films will compete in the festival's main competition section for first and second films, the short film Waiting will participate in the festival's short film competition. The film, which was commissioned by the Jeonju International Film Festival as part of its Short! Short! Short! project, centers on a woman waiting for a train who encounters a boy who acts in strange ways. This marks the second year in the row that the film's director, KIM Jong-kwan, has had a short film competing at Rotterdam.

Three Korean features will screen in the Sturm und Drang (Cinema of the Future) section. The omnibus "Fantastic Parasuicides" centers on people who undergo surreal experiences at the moment they decide to kill themselves. Certainly not Lee Sang-woo (Yoo Ji-tae), the young sound engineer from Seoul, South Korea, in Heo Jin-ho's exquisite second feature "One Fine Spring Day" (literally "Spring Day Goes").

In this film of quiet power, two young people meet, fall in love, then gradually pull back and withdraw, but the film is not about their circumstances, it's about the impermanence of life and how we must learn to ride the roller coaster.
