Rapper MC Mong seems to have won a new legion of fans in Japan. Korea's pop rapper has held "V.O.S.-MC Mong Big 2 Concert" in Tokyo last Saturday and earned sizzling response from both fans and music critics. Some Japanese fans were already well-aware of MC Mong from such programs as MBC sitcom "Nonstop" and KBS variety show "Two Days and One Night".

MC Mong's representative said that all the audience stood up and joined in the singing during the hour-long concert. His popularity was so huge that concert organizers ran out of all the concert merchandises and MC Mong's CDs. Japanese media is reportedly very interested in MC Mong, because there isn't a group in Japan that performs his type of music. Lee Seung-gi Hopes to Appear on Japanese TV

Singer Lee Seung-gi (22), among the star group of the hit "1 Night 2 Days" travel corner on the entertainment program "Happy Sunday", held his first fan meeting in Japan Tuesday at the Laforet Museum in Tokyo.

At the event designed as a radio recording open to the public, Lee surprised the fans when he sang his hit number "You are my girl" in Japanese.

He said, "It's late but I wish everyone a happy New Year", also in Japanese, and confessed that his preparations for the event were difficult and that he was so nervous that he hardly slept.

He also said he was sorry he could not be with his family at home during the lunar New Year holiday but happy to be with his fans in Japan.

He said he was given an award for his role in "1 Night 2 Days" last year and hoped to focus more on his singing this year and be awarded for that as well.

John Hancock (Will Smith), the miserable superhero in Peter Berg's "Hancock", should be happy now.
Released last Thursday, the film is number one at the box office in Korea.
According to the Korean Film Council, Hancock attracted 948,397 viewers during the weekend (July 4 to 6), outnumbering Timur Bekmambetov's action film "Wanted", which ranked second.
Third on list was the Korean action thriller "Public Enemy Returns", directed by Kang Woo-seok.


Writers and directors rally against beef imports

The film industry has expressed support for protests concerning the resumption of U.S. beef imports.
The 22 Korean film screenwriters include Kim Hae-gon who wrote "Failan" (2001), Han Ji-hoon who wrote "Taegukgi" (2004) and Lee Won-jae who wrote "Blood Rain" (2005).
