Kim You-jeong`s Novel Adapted into TV Drama

This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the birth of a novelist who was a great influence in Korea's history of literature, Kim You-jeong.

Among the various events commemorating the anniversary, KBS 1TV's "HDTV Works of Literature" are preparing "Love in Spring", a dramatization of the author's original novel, "Bom Bom". Love in Spring will be aired March 3rd at 10:00 p.m.

This TV drama is a modernization of the original "Bom Bom" novel and how it would be depicted in 2008. It is set in the present, but the basic plot and characters remain the same. The concept of a matriarch-centered society with a cast including the lead character, "Byung-soo", (Yoon Hee-seok) living under the roof of his wife's family; the wife's father (Park Geun-hyeong) who takes advantage of the situation; and the woman pulling all the strings (Lee Kyeong-jin).

Love in Spring portrays Byung-soo's simple-minded perspective on a matriarchal society and the love that blossoms within it.

KBS Television Drama Wins Award at Shanghai TV Festival

The KBS drama "Becoming a Popular Song", which was produced to mark the foundation of the Korean Broadcasting Station (KBS), won the Best TV Film Magnolia Award at the 11th Shanghai International TV Festival in the television drama category.

By depicting the life of an ordinary middle-aged housewife, the drama, which aired March 6, sends the message that life is beautiful, albeit childish at times. Produced by Cheong Cheol-kyoo and written by Roh Hee-kyeong, who also produced another popular KBS series "Beauty Beyond Expression", this drama stars famous middle-aged actors Park Geun-hyeong and Yoon Yeo-jung.

Last year, KBS won the Best Tech Award at the same festival for the drama "There Is A River Flowing In Everybody's Heart" in the television drama category.
