Eugene Selected as PiFan Spokesmodel

Actress and former K-Pop artist, Eugene (Yoo Jin), has been selected to be the "PiFan Lady" by the organizational committee of the 12th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan).

Last year, Eugene (Yoo Jin) made her silver screen debut with the movie "Unstoppable Marriage", and is currently in the middle of filming "198th Page of That Man's Book" with actor Lee Dong-wook. During the course of the film festival (July 18th-27th), Eugene (Yoo Jin) will participate in its various public and promotional events.

Former "PiFan Ladies" include Bae Doona, Jang Jin-yeong, Ha Ji-won, Kang Soo-yeon, Choo Sang-mi and Jin Hee-kyeong. And from 2006 to 2007, Park Joong-hoon, Lee Joon-ki, Lee Wan and Song Chang-hee have had the honor of becoming "PiFan Guys....| More

The 'Remembrance Night' for the third anniversary of Lee Eun-joo's death

The 'Remembrance Night' was held on 22nd, in a café in Seoul Kang-nam to commemorate the third anniversary of Lee Eun-joo's death.

On this 'Remembrance Night', a large number of film producers, directors and colleagues whom she worked with, visited and spend time recollecting the memories of the actress. The visitors include, director Kim Dae-seung of the film "Bungee jumping of their own", director Kim Jong-hak, Lee Hyeon-seung, Byeon Hyeok and script writer Lee Yu-jin of the drama "Phoenix". The senior actors including Ahn Seong-gi, Han Seok-kyu, Park Joong-hoon and her colleague, Kim Ji-soo also attended the ceremony.

The late Lee Eun-joo's agency, Tree Actors Co., will be continue to arrange a small meaningful day as this every year to commemorate her and her achievements rather than grieve over her death.

Rock star becomes radio star in new movical

Drugs and drink ended the career of former rock star Choi Gon, but his popularity bounces back when he stars in a hit talk radio show.
That's the basic story behind the musical "Radio Star", a musical version of the 2006 movie of the same name directed by Lee Joon-ik and starring Park Joong-hoon and Ahn Seong-gi.
The musical Radio Star is currently playing at the Towol Theater in the Seoul Arts Center, southern Seoul. It runs until March 2.
The fictional Choi peaked in the late 1980s, but 20 years later he's on his uppers. He's been busted for smoking marijuana and for physical assault following bouts of drunkenness. He's now a nameless singer at a small cafe in Misa-ri, Gyeonggi.
But Choi's manager Park Min-soo, (played on alternative nights by Seo Beom-seok and Jeong Seong-hwa), eventually gets Choi a gig as a talk radio D.J. in Yeongwol, Gangwon.
The show's a hit. It reaches out to people in the countryside who call in to talk about families and relationships.

Marriage of Movies, Musicals in 2008

Koreans are using the word "movical" more and more these days. It is an apparent keyword to define a trend in the local musical industry.

"Movical", a combination of "movie" and "musical", refers to interaction between the two industries. It started with a local film, "Waikiki Brothers", (2001) directed by Lim Soon-rye, which was adapted for the musical stage in 2004.

For this year alone, about seven or eight musicals based on films are expected to be put on stage.

"Singles", the musical based on the namesake local film, which premiered last year, will launch its second season, starring singer-turned-actor Son Ho-young, former member of all-men pop group G.O.D. starting from Jan. 15 to Feb. 24 at Hoam Art Hall.

"Radio Star", based on the film featuring Park Joong-hoon and Ahn Seong-gi, will now be made into the musical, starring comedian-turned-actor Jung Sung-hwa who stole the limelight in last year's excellent performance of "Man of La...| More

Charity Concert Helps Needy Children

The third charity concert entitled "Love Concert" was held Nov. 27 at the Jamsil Stadium to help underprivileged children.

The purpose of the concert was to enable the sponsoring of poverty-stricken children around the world in a one-on-one manner.

Performers this year included Wonder Girls, SG Wannabe, Big Bang, FT Island and Hwi-sung.

Actresses Han Ko-eun and Yoon Jung-hee personally visited impoverished children in various countries of the world prior to the concert, while actors Daniel Henney, Kim Myeong-min and Park Joong-hoon sent messages.

The concert was organized by the Korean committee of Plan International, which is dedicated to helping children and alleviating poverty.
