Korea-China Song Festival to be Held in Beijing

The 9th Korea-China song festival will be held Dec. 6 in Beijing, China.

Marking the 15th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and China, the festival will feature top Korean and Chinese artists to celebrate friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

An impressive performance will be staged by traditional drum player Choi So-ri, the b-boy team T.I.P and singer Popin Hyeon-joon. Singer Maya and a Chinese singer will sign "Tianmimi" in Chinese.

To wish success for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the band Paran and Chinese singers will sing "Hand in Hand", the theme song of the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

A member of the boy band TVXQ will team with a Chinese singer to sing a song about friendship between Korea and China.

Other performers will include Lee Jung-hyun, Whee Sung and the band Baby VOX Re.V....| More

Dance whiz Popin Hyeon-joon

As B-boys have come to the fore, a growing number of people want to learn break dance. But many give up after realizing the brutal effort hidden behind the glamorous facade. The popularity of B-boys today is greater than in the past but their lives are still difficult. Perception has changed but the social prejudice classifying them as no more than delinquent teens is not easy to change. The first performance that brought street dance to the theater was the musical "The Ballerina who Loved a B-Boy". The popular show has been running since the world's first 'b-boy theater' opened near Hongik University in Seoul late last year. At the center of the hit performance is Popin Hyeon-joon, a solo artist as well as the leader of the performance group Gorilla Dance Factory. Tens and thousands of fans are members of his online fan club. The star b-boy has especially gained more recognition since appearing in the Korean drama 'Over the Rainbow.

Popin Hyeon-joon Receives Offer to Debut in U.S.

Singer Popin Hyeon-joon, who is preparing to launch his career in China, has received an offer to debut in the U.S. from James Sun, the CEO of Zoodango.com and the runner-up winner of the U.S. TV show "The Apprentice 6".

Sun lauded Poppin Hyun Joon for his impressive dancing skills saying that they are excellent enough to gain him recognition from mainstream U.S. society and that he stands a high chance of succeeding in America.

Sources also say that the singer has received several offers from Hollywood. In July, he received an offer to play a support role in the sequel of the popular Hollywood movie "Step Up".

The singer's agency says Popin Hyeon-joon has gained popularity for his superb dancing skills not only in Korea but abroad as well thanks to his passion and arduous efforts. The agency added that the singer will expand his presence overseas after debuting in China....| More

Popin Hyeon-joon Releases Dance DVD

Break dance king Popin Hyeon-joon has released an educational dance DVD entitled 'One and Only'.

The globally recognized Korean b-boy put together teaching material that embodies 15 years of his dance knowledge, as it's difficult to find books or institutes to learn dancing in Korea.

The DVD was produced by idol singer BoA's brother, director Kwon Soon-uk.

The DVD instructs overall b-boy basics such as poppin, breakin and rockin and also includes a bonus track of Hyunjoon's unreleased dances and the backstage story of his music video shoot.

20 lucky purchasers will also get free dance lessons by Popin Hyeon-joonon Aug. 29.

The DVD, having received requests from China even before release, will soon come out in a Chinese version for sale in China....| More

Singer Seo Shows Off Archery Skills in China

Sexy singer Seo In-young has maintained Korea's pride in archery.

With group member Park Jeong-ah and break dancer Popin Hyeon-joon, Seo on July 30 attended an opening ceremony of a Chinese satellite variety program promoting the success of next year's Beijing Olympics.

During the show, Seo teamed up with Hyeon-joon and took part in an archery match, finishing in first place among seven teams.

The program's producer said the energetic performance of the three has impressed many Chinese viewers.

Seo's management says "We hope that the Beijing Olympics will facilitate Korean stars' advance into China. Chinese media is showing interest and Seo is receiving many calls to be on Chinese broadcast shows. She will soon release a Chinese album to launch full fledged activities in China". ...| More
