Kim Ha-neul, to play a 20-year old with the IQ of 7-years

Kim Ha-neul will play a 20-year old lady with the IQ of a 7-year old in drama series to be produced within the upcoming SBS series "On Air".

In the series "On Air" which follows the story of a broadcasting company, Kim Ha-neul plays the picky top actress Oh Seung Eun, and will play the role 7-year old IQ role in the "Psycho but its okay" that is produced within the series.

"Psycho but its okay" is the story of a 20-year old lady with the IQ of a 7-year old that meets a female doctor and shares friendship. "On Air" will portray the process involving the scriptwriter, producing director, actors, and managers to create "Psycho but its okay" from start to end. Kim Ha-neul will play two roles. Oh Seung Eun who has much pride expresses her discontent with the role and argues with the writer.

Song Yoon-ah is famous for being sweet and sentimental, and that is a reason why she is always popular among fellow actors. Even during the interview, actress Eom Ji-won stopped by without hesitation to say hi.

And now she is taking the challenge to transform. Other than her 'evil' role in "Mister Q" back in 1998 and the movie "Jail Breakers - No. 815", this character is probably her largest change.

Song Yoon-ah will be playing the ever so confident and fearless top class scriptwriter Seo Yeong Eun in the television drama series "On Air" which is to start airing on February 27th.

Korean films' diverse genres pursue summer season niche

With the crucial summer season in full swing, Korean filmmakers are getting ready to mount counterattacks against Hollywood blockbusters in August. This time around, what is noticeable is Korean films' strategic discretion in selecting and diversifying genres.

In recent years, a handful of the so-called Korean blockbusters clashed with American counterparts, only to end up with not-so-spectacular results. "The Host", for instance, garnered a rare success at box office, while the majority of hit wannabes withered helplessly.

To find some niche ground and increase the odds for survival, major films releasing in August zoom in on selective genres such as sex, monster and horror. Of course, these genres are hardly groundbreaking, but considering the uniformity in genres of Korean films during the past summer seasons, the latest penchant for diverse genres is a welcome development.
