Lee Jeong-jae—Jeong Ryeo-won, Lovers in "Mellows"

Lee Jeong-jae and Jeong Ryeo-won will be acting as lovers on the screen.

They confirmed to star in the movie "Mellows", which will start filming late April, and are now working on the details.

"Mellows" is a melodrama portraying the love between an insurance inspector whose wife committed suicide and a blind woman who had been in a coma for a year. "Mellows" has drawn great interest, as it is a new movie by Director Song Hae-seong, who also produced "Failan" and "Our Happy Time".

Because it is a love with someone in a coma, it will contain a feeling of fantasy as it goes back and forth from fantasy to reality.

There is great interest to see the on-screen chemistry between Lee Jeong-jae, who is coming back to the screen after a long break after "Riot in a Bar in 1724", and Jeong Ryeo-won, whose first movie was 2 Faces of My Girlfriend".

6th Mise-en-scene's Genre Film Festival

Opening June 27th at Yongsan CGV in central Seoul, the 6th edition of the Mise-en-scene's Genre Film Festival (MGFF) will run until July 3rd, screening over 60 short films. This year's slogan is "Beyond the Barrier of Genres", the event will celebrate films that challenge conventional genres.

MGFF began six years ago when a group of young directors collaborated on a festival that would support emerging cinematic talent. This year 10 of Korea's top directors joined hands to curate and program the festival. US Remake of Failan

SONG Hae-seong's "Failan" (2001) starring CHOI Min-sik and Cecilia CHEUNG will be remade by director Vadim Perelman. Filming is scheduled for this year's fall.

Vadim Perelman directed the drama The House of Sand and Fog. The adaptation of the screenplay is in the hands of Jose Rivera, whose credits include The Motorcycle Diaries. US production company, Beacon Pictures and Landscape pictures teamed up as co-producers.

In "Failan", a man takes on the mafia who exploited his immigrant wife. He never met her, since it was only a formal agreement set up by the mafia. However, he learns about her faith through the letters she left him before she died and it compels him to seek revenge for her.

The remake relocates the story to New York. The immigrant woman will be changed into a Russian and she will fall in the hands of the Russian mafia.

[DVD Review] This film's irony ends with the title

Song Hae-seong's "Our Happy Time" is full of dialogue that sound like quotes from the British dramatist Oscar Wilde, although they seem to work better when they are used out of context. They are the kind of words that instantly grab your attention and you later find them on random blog sites when surfing the Internet.
They are phrases like: "A thorn is as small as a piece of a dust but it can be more painful than the universe when the wound is yours" and "My life was like living in hell, but now I want to live" and "I can take my secrets to the grave because I am a condemned criminal".
They make great quotes, but, as with Oscar Wilde's plays, they can disrupt the flow of a story.
"Our Happy Time" is an epigrammatic story and when it is not using striking quotes it pulls in just about every dramatic element that's necessary to create a stimulating film. Autumn time and the living is teary

The wind's blowing. The leaves are falling. It's that time of year again, the season when we have an excuse for eyes that run and noses that sniffle. In other words it's safe for everybody to watch sad love stories and let the tears flow. You can always claim you have a cold.
Since yesterday, the Sponge house has been showing 10 of the most popular sad dramas made since 2000. Four directors of these famous tear-jerker films will also make appearances and there will be time set aside for the audience to ask questions.
"It is going to be a warm and meaningful event for fans of sad love stories", said Spongehouse's Choi Ji-yeon, the organizer of the event.
