Actress Yang Mi-kyeong to Publish Essay Collection in Japan

Actress Yang Mi-kyeong will publish her essay collection in Japan.

The essay collection entitled 'With Love' will be published on February 27th. In her essays, Yang candidly reveals her thoughts on being a mother and wife and on her life as an actress. The essay collection also contains the special 'Dae Jang Geum' or 'Jewel in the Palace' interview as well as related photos.

Yang has been working hard to promote Korea's palace cuisine and dishes in Japan. She even has an official fan club in the neighboring country.

Yang also introduces a book she authored on 60 poems written by her favorite poet entitled 'Yang Mi-kyeong's Poems Read with a Heart' and a previously written essay collection entitled 'If You Want to Live A Happy Life'.

Korean actresses Jang Seo-hee, Yang Mi-kyeong and Lee Young-ae ranked first to third among actresses in a Chinese survey on the most influential Korean actors and actresses.

Jang, who starred in the Korean drama 'Miss Mermaid', was the highest ranking actress at 7th overall, following male stars Bae Yong-joon, Song Seung-heon, Kwon Sang-woo, Ahn Jae-wook, Kim Seong-taek and Ryoo Si-won.

Following Jang was veteran actress Yang Mi-kyeong and Lee Young-ae, stars of the hit Korean drama 'Dae Jang Geum' (Jewel in the Palace). Then came Choi Ji-woo, Song Hye-kyo, Son Ye-jin, Han Chae-young and Lee Da-hae.

Several celebrities named spokespersons for Life Ethics Committee

Actors Ahn Seong-gi, Im Hyeon-sik and Yang Mi-kyeong, singers JK Kim Dong-wook and Booby Kim, and announcer Kang Su-jeong have been named spokespersons for the Life Ethics Committee.

The committee supports stem cell research using the 10-billion-won donation from the Seoul Catholic Archdiocese headed by Archbishop Chung Jin-suk. The diocese also designated Dec. 4 the "Day of Life" and held a special mass at the Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul to raise awareness about the value of life. The mass also featured a ceremony to appoint the spokespersons.

On the evening of that same day, the concert entitled "Night of Life" was held at Dongseong High School in Hyehwa-dong, Seoul. The performers included Hwi-sung, Chang Woo-hyuk, Seo Ji-young, Coyote, JK Kim Dong-wook, Lee So-eun and Bobby Kim.

Archbishop Chung Jin-suk and the Peace Broadcasting Company choir jointly performed the song "Love".

Korean Hit TV Drama 'Dae jang geum' Attracts Japanese Fans

The popularity of the hit Korean TV drama "Dae jang geum" is spreading to more countries in Asia.
After creating a sensation in Chinese-speaking countries, the drama is also touching the hearts of many Japanese fans.
"Dae jang geum" tells the story of a 16th-century woman named Janggum, who overcomes the prejudices of a male-dominated feudal society to rise to the position of royal chef and physician.

Daejanggeum fever in China spawns events covering tourism, Korean cuisine

Events trying to capitalize on the fever in China surrounding a Korean TV drama series are being organized by two Korean public corporations in a bid to promote Korean cuisine and tourism among Chinese tourists.

The Korea National Tourism Organization (KNTO) said on Friday (Sept. 30) that it will hold a string of sessions first in Shanghai to promote Daejanggeum among the Chinese press and travel agencies next month after China's national holiday ends. After Shanghai, the session will move to Beijing and other major Chinese cities.

Daejanggeum is a historical TV drama set in the 16th century royal court of the Joseon dynasty. It has a storyline similar to other famous historical TV soap operas: the main character, Janggeum (starring actress Lee Young-ae) overcomes all difficulties facing her and works her way to success.
