60 Korean dramas now go on air in Japan (Source)

A recent survey shows that over 60 Korean dramas are on TV in Japan. Prime time broadcasting is also known to be increasing.
According to the KOFACE (Korea Foundation for Asian Culture Exchange), total of 23 channels including terrestrial, local cable and satellite television present over 60 Korean dramas as of August 2005.
In terrestrial channels, 'All in', starring Lee Byeong-heon and Song Hye-kyo, is shown once a week on NHK since April 2004. Nihon TV presents 'Secret', starring Kim Ha-neul, Ryoo Si-won and Ha Ji-won, every morning from Monday through Thursday. On top of that, 'Sad Love Story' is on Fuji TV every Saturday afternoon.
As for the broadcasting stations across the metropolitan area, Tokyo MXTV presents 3 dramas; 'Love Letter', 'Yurihwa' and 'Did We Really Love' once a week. Meanwhile 'Happy Together' and 'Beautiful Girl' are on Chiba TV and TVK, respectively.

A postage-stamp to commemorate Bae Yong-joon is to be sold from the forthcoming May 15.
IMX, to which Bae Yong-joon belonged, said that Bae Yong-joon's official photograph postage-stamp will be sold in Internet site as well as post offices throughout the nation in Japan.

Korean films and dramas are causing quite the storm in Japan. "Brotherhood" (Korean: Taegeukgi Hwinalli-myeo), the Korean War movie staring Jang Dong-gun and Won Bin, is expected to gross W100 billion in Japan,
Showbox, the film's distributor, said Monday that when one computes the numbers based on the 8,700 pre-purchased tickets sold three days before the film's premier in Japan, the film should draw about 3 million viewers. At W13,000 a ticket, that comes out to around W40 billion, and when one adds this to W60 billion in tapes and copyright imports, the film is expected to make about W100 billion in Japan.
This would be roughly the same sum of money the film made in Korea, drawing 13 million viewers.
About half that sum represents the film's break even point, and when one takes into account marketing costs and other expenses, the film should bring back to Korea W1.55 billion in profits. Of the W6 billion in videos and DVDs, W2 billion is expected to come back to Korea ...| More

| T his is one of the best Korean dramas I've seen - I think Bae Yong Joon & Kim Hye Soo's chemistry was great! I just bought the DVD & it's worth every penny I must say, although I have yet to finish the episodes as it's about 44 of them but I'm finding it very good! It's different from the other Kdramas I've seen - this is one of the best! I love the music as well or OST of this drama! I'll rate this 5 stars! |
