Satisfies pop culture's appetite for fantasy
Show off true value in various fields such as films, musicals, dramas, online games, etc.Korean comics have come under the spotlight as a source material for pop culture including films, musicals, dramas and games.
After the success of the 2003 drama Damo , which was based on Bang Hak-gi's comic strip, comic books such as "Full House" (Won Soo-yeon), "Princess Hours" (Park So-hee), "The War of Flower" (Heo Yeong-man) and "Le Grand Chef" (Heo Yeong-man) have been reborn as various formats. This is known as OSMU (One Source Multi Use).
In particular, comics are noted for their ability to satisfy pop culture's recent appetite for fantasy, as reflected in the popularity of Avatar.

Performance Industry Meets the World
Among the various factors that constitute human life, culture has the greatest capacity to nurture connections and exchange. One culture quickly absorbs the advantages of another culture and develops to integrate naturally into a large wave.
The same applies to the performance industry.
While it is difficult to compare live performances with other genres as they are played out directly in front of an audience, they often borrow from the sources, forms and contents of different genres. In 2010 the performance industry will meet and interact with other genres.

'Centenary of Korean Comics' in the US
'Comics Room of Memory', 'Screening of Manhwa-inspired Movies', and 'Writers' Workshop' await visitors
Korean manhwa, a blanket term for Korean comics and cartoons, visits LA with its imaginative power and rich visuals, commemorating the centennial of its birth.
Accordingly, the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA, President & CEO: Lee Jae-woong) hosts an exhibition 'Manhwa 100: Centenary of Korean Comics' from 18th to 2th, next month with the Korea Cultural Center Los Angeles (President: Kim Jae-won).
The opening ceremony is held on 18th 6:30 p.m. (local time). This commemorative event, which is held in the L.A. center and the Korea Center, consists of 'Panel Display of 100 Years by Chronology' which provides an overview of the history of Korean manhwa, 'Popular Cartoonists Exhibition', 'Screening of Manhwa-inspired Movies and Animations', and 'Comics Room of Memory' displaying manhwas in both Korean and English.

Korean comic books, re-emerging as a popular form of cultural content, are now targeting the European market.
The Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA) will hold the 2009 Korean Comics Special Exhibition Feb. 2-7 at the Korean Culture Center in Paris, France, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the genre.
The exhibition is designed to explore the centennial history of the genre and shed light on seven veteran authors - Kim Jin-I, Park So-hee, Kim Byung-soo, Yoon Tae-ho, Shim Seung-hyun, Sobogi and Oh Youn.
The authors will also participate in the Angouleme International Comics Festival, which will take place Jan. 29-Feb. 1 in Paris.
The authors will meet the local fans in the city Feb. 2-3 to share ideas on new trends and the circulation of Korean comics.
