Yoo Ha's searing crime melodrama deserves kudos

Byung-Doo, lanky and adorable, (played by TV drama star Jo In-Seong from "Something Happened in Bali") is a 29-year-old career criminal working for the middle-rank enforcer Sang-Chul (Yoon Je-Moon, a Molotov-cocktail-loving vagrant in "The Host"). Burdened with a terminally ill mother and taking care of younger siblings, Byung-Doo is feeling financial pressure as a substitute patriarch. When the big boss President Hwang (Cheon Ho-Jin, "The Big Swindle", "Crying Fist") is cornered by a corrupt prosecutor, Byung-Doo volunteers for a whack job and wins the man's trust. However, his real trouble begins when friend Min-Ho (Nam Goong-min), an aspiring movie director, asks him to be a "consultant" for the latter's debut film, a gangster epic not unlike "Dirty Carnival".

Actress Named Goodwill Amb. for Progressive Party

Actress Kim Boo-seon will serve as a goodwill ambassador to publicize the tentatively titled New Progressive Party (NPP), alongside photographer Lee Sang-youp and novelist Kim Tak-hwan.

Kim made a name for herself in the 1980s appearing in soft-core pornographic movies such as "Ae-ma Woman 3". She made a return to the entertainment industry with the movie "Spirit of Jeet Kune Do" ("Once Upon A Time In Highschool") and the drama "Phoenix" in 2004. However, she was charged with smoking marijuana and placed on probation.

Kim now campaigns for the decriminalization of marijuana use in Korea, which is receiving mixed responses from supporters of the NPP.

Lee is a renowned documentary photographer. He has held many individual and group photo exhibitions and published books on photography. He also contributes to newspapers such as the Hankyoreh.

Actress Kim Yeong-im, gone to her eternal rest at such young age

Actress Kim Yeong-im passed away on 7th December, while struggled against breast cancer in Kyung-ki-do Il-san cancer center. She was diagnosed with a terminal breast cancer last February and after 10 months of long struggle against the illness; she passed away at such young age of 28.

Kim Yeong-im had been uploading pictures of herself smiling in her personal homepage to show her strong determination to fight the illness. After death of her daughter, Kim Yeong-im's mother left a comment on her homepage, "I just send my lovely daughter to Father. Our Father must have love her as much as I loved her and couldn't wait for her any longer", showing her deep grief for losing her dear daughter.

Kim Yeong-im made her debut in 2000 and worked intensively in the industry, appearing in dramas including "Sassy Girl, Chun-hyang" and "Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-shin"; and films such as "Address Unknown", "Once Upon A Time In Highschool" and "Cracked Eggs and Noodles"

YOO Ha's Project at Tokyo Project Gathering

YOO Ha's new project "A Frozen Flower" and MIN Gyoo-dong's "Antiqu" are part of the Tokyo Project Gathering (TPG), a financing and co-production market. YOO teamed-up with "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" producer LEE Tae-hoon. MIN's "Antiqu" is produced by Eugene LEE and MIN Jin-soo, Eugene LEE produced "A Bittersweet Life".

Director YOO is acclaimed for his crime films Spirit of Jeet Keun Do: "Once Upon a Time in Highschool" and "A Dirty Carnival". Recently, his new project was revealed to be a homosexual film in a historical setting. Actor JO In-seong is already attached to the project, he is to play a bi-sexual warrior.

MIN directed a big assemble cast in "All For Love" ("My Loevly Week"), a romantic comedy which cast includes HA Ji-won, UHM Jung-hwa, IM Chang-jeong and HWANG Jeong-min.
