Actress Han Eun-jeong, donates 100 million won to KAIST

KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) revealed on the 4th that popular actress Han Eun-jeong donated 100 million won ($US 100,000) to the university development fund.

That day, Han Eun-jeong visited the chancellor Seo Nam-pyo, and signed the agreement for the payment.

She said, "While filming the movie "The Divine Weapon", I've realized the importance of scientific technology. I hope this helps in some way for research".

Han Eun-jeong is from Dae-jeon, debuted in 1999 with MBC "Because of Love" and acted well in dramas such as "Seoul 1945". She is awaiting the premiere of the historical movie "The Divine Weapon", also starring Ahn Seong-gi.

Actress Kim Se-ah was indicted without detention last week on a charge of DUI. She had been drinking in Sinsa-dong, southern Seoul and drove herself away from the bar in a company car.
Kim was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint and failed a breathalyser test. Her driver's license was suspended for 100 days.
Her blood alcohol level was 0.5 percent. She told police she drank two glasses of wine at a bar in Sinsa-dong with friends. Kim Se-ah, an ex-gymnast, has worked in soap operas and movies since 1996. She once claimed to have been born in 1976 but it was later revealed that her birth year is 1973.
On the day Kim was arrested, the police suspended 1,221 driver's licenses in Korea of people with blood alcohol levels between 0.05 to 0.1 percent and revoked 789 licenses for DUI where the blood alcohol levels were above 0.1 per cent.

Han Eun-jeong: Back on TV With a Grown-Up Part

Han Eun-jeong returns to the small screen with the lead in SBS drama "My Dearest Love", who, betrayed by her lover, is determined to get even with him. "She has loved him so deeply that she is hurt deeply", Han told the Chosun Ilbo. "She turns into a venomous woman. But if viewers can identify with her pain, they will understand her".

But the low viewing figures -- a mere half of the ratings of MBC hit drama "Jumong" -- don't matter: what matters is seeing the number of enthusiastic fans increase gradually as the characters come alive.

As evidence, a number of passionate soap buffs crowd its free web board to argue in support of either of the two leads (the man is played by Kim Dong-wan). But both sides praise Han's portrayal of a mother's ardent love for her new-born baby. "We have discovered a different side of Han", one said. The actress says this is only the beginning, and she will surprise them even more when she has a chance to unleash her full anger against her lover.

Conservatives Slam 'Biased' KBS History Drama

Conservative groups accuse the state-run KBS network of distorting history and belittling the achievements of its first president Syngman Rhee. Some 254 right-wing groups including the Citizens Coalition to Stop the Nuclear Development of North Korea and the Free Citizens' Alliance of Korea held a press conference at the Korea Press Center Friday slamming the KBS historical drama "Seoul 1945".

They complain that the drama accuses Rhee and others of involvement in the assassination of the center-left leader Yeo Un-hyong and demand a halt to the broadcast. They are also demanding the resignation of KBS president Jung Yun-Joo and threatened a campaign asking people to boycott the television subscription fee.
