"Radio Dayz" is a feel-good comedy set during the Japanese colonisation of Korea in the early 20th century and revolves around a group of radio employees who develop a radio drama that captures the heart of Korean audiences.
Ryoo Seung-beom ("Arahan", "Crying Fist") plays a laid-back and resourceful radio producer who decides to hire a writer for a radio drama format. However, the radio drama encounters numerous problems before it succeeds in captivating audiences.

A major problem is the character portrayed by KIM Sa-rang (Who Slept with Her ("Sexy Teacher")), a famous singer with star attitude, who – while broadcasting live – decides to create some more lines for herself whenever she feels she isn't quite in the spotlight; resulting in a plot turned upside down and everybody else confused.

Berlinale Market Fruitful for Korean Distributors

Several Korean titles have been sold internationally at the recent Berlin International Film Festival. Asian and European markets are the main destinations for the Korean films.

PARK Chan-wook's award-winning "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK" has been sold by CJ Entertainment to the Japanese exhibitor Tokyo Theaters and the French Wild Side. "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK" has also been selected as the opening film for the Hong Kong Film Festival in March. Previous PARK Chan-wook films "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" – part of the 'vengeance trilogy' together with Old Boy – were bought by FR from the United Arab Emirates for distribution in the Middle East.

Another CJ title "Like a Virgin" – directed by LEE Hae-yeong and LEE Hae-joon - was bought by Amuse Entertainment from Japan. CJ project "Soo" by Korean-Japanese director CHOI Yang-il was pre-sold to German Splendid.

If you take a look at the posters of upcoming movies, you may be struck by the similarities. If you read their plot summaries, you may even get the impression that you have read the same outline twice.

It's true that movies in the same genre share many similarities, but it does not mean that they should be indistinguishable, even at a glance.

Such similarities have caused worries that the local movies lack the originality and creativity.

"This year, especially, it's true that there have not many films with creative stories", said Huh Moon-young, a film critic and programmer of the Korean Panorama section at the Pusan International Film Festival.

"It may be inevitable that there are some similarities in movies, as commercial movies tend to mix limited elements that can appeal to the audience, but it's disappointing and a matter of concern".
