Actors who starred in movies written by Guiyeoni have become top stars in the movie industry. These stars are Kang Dong-won, Jo Han-seon, Song Seung-heon, and Jang Geun-seok.

"Temptation of Wolves" helped Kang Dong-won and Jo Han-seon, who were new actors then, to rise to the top. They played high school students. Kang Dong-won captured the hearts of high school girls with his perfect looks, and Jo Han-seon captured audiences with his tough, rebel image. After this movie, they have been cast in various movies and have become top actors.

Song Seung-heon was in "The Guy Was Cool" as a rebellious high school student and acted with Jeong Da-bin, who is now deceased. Sookmyeong Pre-sold for Yearly High

Upcoming film titled Sookmyeong (English translation: "Fate") has been pre-sold for this year's highest sum. The Japanese film company Formula entertainment obtained the Japanese rights from the Korean nTorino for US$ 2 million.

Korean film exports have been slow this year and the sum payed for Sookmyeong is not particularly high compared to sales figures from previous years. Especially sales to Japan have been under pressure, however, films starring popular Hallyu stars like KWON and BAE Yong-joon are still in demand in Japan.

Sookmyeong is an action noir in the hands of director KIM Hae-gon. The film revolves around a group of friends and explores the darker side of friendship. Filming is halfway.

Jeong Da-bin, 27, was found hanged with a bath towel at her boyfriend's house in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul, on Saturday. The popular actress's death was reported by her boyfriend, whom police did not identify.
Police said they found no suicide note, but believe on the basis of their investigation so far that she took her own life. Her friend said Ms. Jeong had suffered some career reverses lately and was under stress.
Her family and her agency, sounding somewhat skeptical, urged the police yesterday afternoon to investigate further and conduct an autopsy.
Ms. Jeong made her debut as a television actress in 2000 and cemented her fame in a TV drama, "Cat on the Roof", in 2003. She also starred in a romantic comedy movie, "The Guy Was Cool", in 2004. She had not been seen much professionally in recent months, however.

A Trend of Internet-based Novels Being Adapted for Films

Films produced from 'Internet published novels' have become a trend in Korea.

Two Internet novel adapted films, He Was Cool - The Guy was Cool (Geunomeun Meoshit seot da) and Romance on their own - Temptation of Wolves (Nukdae eui Yoohok) were released almost at the same time this summer. Both films' original stories were written by the same person: the popular on-line storywriter, Lee Yun-se (better known by her penname, Guiyeoni). Her new on-line serial story 'To My Boyfriend' has also been picked up for adaptation and other on-line stories such as 'Baekjowa Baeksu', 'Samsusaeng Sarang Iyagi', 'Oktapbang Goyangyi' (Cat in the Rooftop Room), 'Keanu Reeves Kkosigi', 'Saekma Jeonseol', 'Naesarang Iljinnyo', 'Mihonmo Iyagi', 'Naneun Aknyoilsubakae upda', are in development or pre-production stages to be produced as films.

'The Guy was Cool' caters to teen love fantasies

"The Guy was Cool", directed by Yi Hwan-kyung, is incredibly predictable. Teenagers will like this movie nonetheless, simply because its predictable storyline lives up to their expectations, letting Korean high school girls vicariously enjoy a Cinderella fantasy.
Han Ye-won (Jeong Da-bin) is a plain-looking high school girl who thinks of herself as a princess living in a beautiful castle built on a flower-covered field. One day, she writes a derogatory message about a boy on the Web. It turns out that the boy, Ji Eun-seong (Song Seung-heon), is a handsome high school student who fights well and projects a mysterious lonely aura.

Initially, the two squabble, but somehow they get to know each other, and cope with obstacles together before they finally (yes, finally) fall in love.
