300 Japanese Fans Greet Gong Yoo at Airport

Actor Gong Yoo was ardently greeted by Japanese fans when he arrived in Japan Sunday to promote the Japanese film "Like a Dragon", in which he appeared.

An official from his agency, Sidus HQ, said that his promotion tour was kept a secret out of safety concerns, but that 300 Japanese fans crowded the airport to see the Korean heartthrob.

On Monday, Gong attended the film's premiere in Tokyo that gathered reporters from 200 media outlets and 700 audience members.

Director Takashi Miike said that Gong's acting heightened the presence of his role in the film, and that he's already a good actor but has "unlimited potential" to become the best. He said he wants to work with Gong again.

Gong said he was honored to participate in such a great film and that he learned a lot from the project. He said it was a great experience as he realized that teamwork was possible despite language and environmental barriers.

Actor Lee Byeong-heon to Act in New Film "A Summer's Tale"

Top actor Lee Byeong-heon will act in a new film entitled "A Summer's Tale".

Lee has recently agreed to act in the new melodramatic picture to be directed by Cho Geun-sik, the director of the film "No Manners" (2002), and produced by KM Culture. In "A Summer's Tale", Lee will play the lead character, Yoon Suk-young. It has been two years since Lee appeared in his last melodramatic movie, "Everybody Has Secrets" (2004).

"A Summer's Tale" portrays a story about a renowned old professor named Yoon who recalls times from his past and eventually reunites with his first lover. The film used a long-running program on KBS TV, "Love in TV", as its key motif.

The public's attention has been drawn to this film, as Lee will first play a young college student in his 20s and then a distinguished old professor in his 60s later in the movie.

Eight Korean Movies Invited to New York Asian Film Festival

Eight Korean movies, including director Ryoo Seung-wan's "Crying Fist", will be screened at the 4th New York Asian Film Festival which will take place from June 17 to July 2 in Manhattan, New York. Of the 180 movies that were submitted by China, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines and other Asian countries, only the top 31 most interesting films will be shown at the festival, according to the festival's organizing committee.

Aside from "Crying Fist", the other Korean movies that have been invited to the festival are "Arahan Jangpung Daejakjeon", "A Family" (by director Lee Jeong-cheol), "Green Chair" (by director Park Chul-soo), "Marathon" (by director Jeong Yoon-cheol), "Someone Special" (by director Jang Jin), "R-Point" (by director Kong Soo-chang) and "Samaria" (by director Kim Ki-duk).

'Dating' Shows It's the Journey That Matters

What is the purpose of dating? Is it to satisfy a physical desire, to feel companionship or get married? It's probably quite difficult to find the right answer to this tricky question, but the new film "Rules of Dating (Yonaeui Mokjok)" successfully leads moviegoers to find their own answers.

At first glance, the film, directed by Han Jae-rim, seems like a run-of-the-mill sex comedy. But as the story progresses, it evolves and delves deeper into the true meaning of dating and love.

In the film, high school English teacher Lee Yu-rim (played by Park Hae-il) starts to flirt with student teacher Choi Hong (Kang Hye-jeong) when she is dispatched to the school. A few days later, he even asks her to have sex with him directly and he gets more aggressive toward his goal.

The 48th San Francisco International Film Festival to be opened on April 21, invited a total of 4 Korean cinemas.

In its 'World Cinema' section, 'Low Life' by filmmaker Im Kwon-taek, 'Bin Jip - 3-Iron' by filmmaker Kim Ki-duk and so forth were invited and in its 'Midnight movies' section, omnibus cinema 'Three, Monster' in which Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook engaged, was invited.

On one hand, this Film Festival has selected black comedy 'The Ax' as its opening film.

In cinema 'Low Life', Tae-woong goes to a rival school to revenge his friend but only find himself being stabbed by Seung-moon on his way out. But ironically, Tae-woong ends up becoming adopted into Seung-moon's family after Seung-moon's father.
