The futures of many child stars were generally depressing.

The childish image and the weight of the years were obstacles for child stars to become adult actors.

But even among them, there are stars who have succeeded in transforming into adults. The IS Entertainment Team has picked out the best 5 actors who started out as child stars.

The first is the heroine of "New Heart", Kim Min-jeong.

Kim Min-jeong, who's charm comes from her big eyes, debuted in 1990 when she was eight, with MBC Best Theater "Widow". In 1992, she received the 'Child Actor Award' from KBS, received the 'Youth Award' in 1998, and received much love for her smart acting. Her official change to adult acting came in 2005 with the drama "Fashion 70s" and in 2006 with the movie "Forbidden Quest".

Especially in "Forbidden Quest", she had a daring exposure scene, and fully separated from her innocent, childish image.

Korean films sought after by Europe and Asia

European and Asian buyers closed deals on several Korean films' rights at the Berlin Film festival's market. JEON Ji-hyeon's star power in Asia resulted in "A Man Who Was Superman" being sold to Hong Kong (Golden Scene), Thailand (J-Bics), and Singapore (Festive Films) by CJ Entertainment. The human interest drama was directed by JEONG Yoon-cheol and stars HWANG Jeong-min as a traumatised man.

German Splendid pre-bought the rights for "The Divine Weapon" and "Fate". CJ Entertainment also sold "Open City" and "Our Town" to Splendid.

"Fate" is an action noir starring Korean star KWON Sang-woo and SONG Seung-heon. KIM Hae-gon directs the story about friends who turn to crime.

The historical drama "The Divine Weapon" stars JEONG Jae-yeong and is about the invention of an advanced weapon to defend a former Korean dynasty. Eleven Korean features to screen at Vancouver

Eleven feature films and five short films from Korea will screen in the upcoming Vancouver International Film Festival, scheduled to take place from 25 September to October 10. Programmed by British film critic Tony RAYNS, the selection features a wide range of critically acclaimed arthouse work and groundbreaking commercial features. The festival will also screen a newly resubtitled print of auteur JANG Sun-woo's latest work, Resurrection of the Little Match Girl.

Save the Green Planet and Invisible Light, both by first-time filmmakers, will also compete in the festival's Dragons & Tigers Competition for Young Asian Cinema. Past winners of the award from Korea include HONG Sang-soo for The Day a Pig Fell Into the Well and LEE Chang-dong for Green Fish.
