A documentary on the Amazon River in Brazil produced by MBC won a silver medal at the 54th New York Festivals.

Filmed in high-definition video, "Tears of the Amazon" examines the river and the area's indigenous people, and considers the impact of development on its ecosystem and the tribes.

The film took home the silver medal in the Cultural Issues division of the Television & Film competition at an awards ceremony held in Las Vegas on Tuesday (local time).

The New York Festivals, one of the world's leading media competitions, grants awards to creative and innovative TV programs, commercials and films through five competitions.
