'A body like Angelina Jolie's?'

Kang Hye-jeong has entered training with the trainer team who worked with Se7en and Big Bang. Kang Hye-jeong signed a contract with YG Entertainment, housing Se7en, Gummy, Big Bang, Koo Hye-seon, and Jeong Hye-yeong, in February. She started training with a team who is famous for making singer trainees work hard.

The professional training team uses high-level techniques to make trainees flexible so that they can keep up on stage. Se7en's built body and Big Bang's lean muscles were a result of this team's help. Kang Hye-jeong is receiving help to keep in shape and build her stamina.

South Korean director Gina KIM's third feature, the New York set "Never Forever " (2007), will receive a limited release in select cities across the US this Spring. The US-Korean co-production had its world premiere in the competition section of the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. After a release in Korea last June and various festival appearances, the film won the Jury Prize at the 33rd Deauville American Film Festival in France.

The film continues KIM's exploration of the issues of woman's relationship to her own body and bodily desires as laid out in her previous feature "Invisible Light" (2003). Never Forever tells the story of an upper class Caucasian woman living in New York (played by Vera Farmiga) who is unable to conceive a child with her Korean-American husband. Playwright and 3rd generation Korean-Japanese Chong Wishing is bringing "Yakiniku Dragon" to the stage with a joint Korean and Japanese cast and crew.

It will be a joint production prepared by the Seoul Arts Center on its 20th anniversary and Japan's New National Theater on its 10th. "Yakiniku Dragon" is their second joint play after their last project in 2002, "Across the River".

"Yakiniku Dragon" will be performed in Japan from the 17th to the 27th, then at the Seoul Arts Center's Towol Theater next month from the 20th to the 25th.

"Yakiniku Dragon" is the new production by Chong, a renowned playwright in the Japanese movie and theater industry. Chong and rising Korean director Yang Jung-woong are collaborating directors for the play, and they are joined by an international cast-- Sin Cheol-jin, Shiba Tetsuya, Go Soo-hee, and Joo In-young.

Super Junior-M is ready to make its debut in China.

The group, which was tentatively named "Super Junior China" is a vocal group made up of Korean and Chinese members. The group was formed to specifically target the Chinese-speaking markets.

The seven-member group consists of Han-kyung, the Chinese member of Super Junior, Si-won (Choi Si-won), Dong-hae (Lee Dong-hae), Ryeo-wook, Kyu-hyun and two more Chinese members, Henry and Zhao Wei.

Super Junior-M's first album "Me" will be released in China in mid-April. It will also be released in other Asian countries including Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. "The Chaser" (Chugyeokja), a Korean thriller directed by Na Hong-jin, has turned out to be a surprising hit in the slump-laden local film industry in the first quarter. Released on Feb. 14, it is still showing strong performances at the box office, outsmarting other Korean and foreign competitors.

If the current trend continues, the ticket sales of the thriller is now expected to reach the 5-million landmark soon, possibly emerging as the most successful Korean film in the first half of 2008.

The trailblazing success of "The Chaser" at the box office reflects the dearth of successful Korean flicks. Even foreign films are not faring so well, with Hollywood blockbusters mysteriously absent in the box office slots.

The problem with the film lineup in April has been compounded by the current downturn hitting local productions and distributors hard.
