Resurrection Of The Butterfly (DVD) (Korea Version) DVD Region 3

A new concept for fantasy horror, Resurrection of the Butterfly takes motifs from a 16th-century Korean legend about a famous geisha named Nongae who, motivated by strong patriotism, jumps off a cliff, dragging with her a Japanese general. The film takes the audience back in time to 1592 during the onset of the Japanese invasion of Korea and postulates what would happen if Nongae failed in her noble suicide attempt. Then the horror thriller speculates on the possible rivalry that may have existed between Korean general Choi Kyung Whei and Japanese general Kimura over Nongae. An independent digital feature film, Resurrection Of The Butterfly is comprised of two parts: the past and the present. The first half, directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Kim Min Sook (The Apple), focuses on the alternate version of the famous folk tale that sees Nongae failing her suicide attempt, thereby distorting the future. Director Lee Jung Kook ( A Promenade , Blue) travels forward in time to deliver the reincarnation of the fatal romance. A love story that reeks of horrors, Resurrection of the Butterfly offers mind-bending adventures through time and space.

In 1592, the Japanese army gains control of Jinju Fortress, situated along the Nam River in Korea. Choi Kyung Whei, the Korean general who lost control of his fortress along with its townspeople, is brought to the Japanese commander Kimura. Every captive is ordered to declare loyalty to the new regime or face death. Nongae, a geisha, slashes general Choi's neck, ending her own lover's life in what appears to be a gesture of submission to the enemy. Five centuries later, two botanists, Seong Hyun and Young Sin, head out to the mountains in search of a Chinese pink flower which according to an old folk tale is believed to possess the power of spirits. Out of nowhere, a stranger named Jae Jin who claims to know the couple joins them in their journey. But the mysterious traveler exhibits ominous behavior, especially when left alone with Young Sin. Surely enough, he ends up putting Young Sin in a great danger, enraging her lover Seong Hyun. As the two men engage in a mortal combat, they find themselves ensnared by mysterious shadows from the past.
