Hosted by congresswoman Kang, Hye-Sook, and congressman Woo, Sang-Ho, a seminar to establish plans to open economic collaborations in animation was held in Aug. 24 at the underground level grand auditorium of the Congress Library.
The Korean animation industry has situated itself as a leading industrial genre, exemplifying a model for South-North Korean exchange through Queen Shim Cheong, a full-featured animation offering, and Pororo, a made for TV animation series. This seminar, titled "Groping for New Paths of Advancement in Animation Through Collaboration Between South and North Koreas", gathers internal capacities in the animation industry, examines the policy direction of South and North Korea, and promotes proactive collaborative projects between the two Koreas through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Congress, and the Korean governments.
Participating in this seminar are hosts Congressman Woo, Sang-Ho, and Congresswoman Kang, Hye-Sook, as well as Kim, Jong-Min, Minister of Culture and Tourism, Kim, Jin-Kyu, Director of the Industrial Promotion Headquarters of KOCCA, Nelson Shin, CEO of Maycom Production, Kim, Yeong-Jae, professor at Hanyang Unversity, and other government officials and specialists from the industry.
The participants will discuss the current conditions of the South Korean animation industry and of the need for South-North Koreas' economic collaboration, the current condition of the North Korean animation industry, improvement plans for the activation of the South-North Korean exchanges, and policy support plans toward the said exchanges.
