The Contact is the debut feature film of director Jang Yoon Hyun who has also directed Tell me Something. This film swooped 6 awards in the 1997 Grand Bell Awards including Best New Director and Best Picture. It is a love story of two lonely souls unfolding in the landscape of Seoul, breathing the new living mode in the age of cyber technology. The two meet online and after many takes and turns, they fall in love and finally meet. This film also feature the most-loved Korean actor Han Suk Kyu.

옛사랑을 잊지 못하고 있는 동현은 그가 일하는 방송작가 은희가 보내는 맹목적인 집착으로 자신의 선배 태호와 원치않는 삼각관계에 얽혀 있다. 어느 날, 옛 사랑인 영혜에게서 전달된 음반으로 인해 그의 일상이 흔들리기 시작한다. 케이블 TV 홈쇼핑 전화상담원으로 일하는 수현은 친구의 애인을 짝사랑 하고 있다. 어느 날, 드라이브 중에 라디오에서 흘러나오는 음악에 매료되어 통신으로 그 음악을 신청한다. 수현이 그 음악을 신청하자 동현은 그녀일지 모른다고 생각하지만 다른 사람이라는 걸 알고는 실망한다. 그러나 수현이 자기처럼 외로운 사람이고 반응 없는 사랑에 대한 열병을 앓고 있다는 것을 알게 되면서 서로 동질감을 느낀다.통신을 통해 자주 만나게 되면서 그들은 어느덧 서로에게 빠져든다. 그러면서 수현은 짝사랑을 정리하고 동현도 방송국을 그만두고 원치 않는 삼각관계를 끝낸다. 그리고 그들은 만나기로 하는데...

This movie is seen as a classic romance drama. Great actors and good soundtrack. From the description I thought it would be about two people who chat on the internet all the time and finally meet, but it really wasn't that way. Very good, recommended.

There is not a lot of drama in the movie; even there was very little direct interaction between the two major characters (if you don't count those cyber chatting); but then the movie draws you into their lonely world

Good film. You'll be taken in by the characters. The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the ending. It seemed rather contrived. Maybe it wasn't worth the wait...

This movie is so sad! It's about this girl who's in love with her roommate's boyfriend. When they break up, she goes out to see him, but....it doesn't work out. While this is going on, she's been talking to this guy who's looking for his long lost girlfriend. They eventually fall in love.......he almost lets her get away!
