YesAsia Editorial Description

Animator Wanee (Kim Hee Sun) and screenwriter Junah (Ju Jin Mo) may both be struggling in their careers, but all seems to be well as long as they have each other for love and support. The return of Wanee's half-brother and first love Young Min (Cho Seung Woo), however, brings back Wanee's fading memories of an illicit puppy love and its tragic consequences. With both past and present love living under the same roof, the three are thrown into soul-searching confusion as Wanee finally confronts her own emotions and misgivings. With whom does her heart truly lie?

Directed by Kim Yong Gyun, Wanee & Junah may feature a very photogenic line-up in Kim Hee Sun, Ju Jin Mo, and Cho Seung Woo, but it is much more than a typical romance. A gentle portrait of yearning and introspection, the film delicately touches on the taboo and reflects on the nature of love and memory.

A surprising love story Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
"Wanee & Junah" can be frustrating viewing during the first half of the film because the viewer wonders why Wanee (Kim Hee Sun) is behaving as she is. Once it begins to dawn on the viewer what is tying her up in knots, then the story falls into place and the movie makes sense.

In short, past affections and feelings of guilt have kept Wanee from progressing in her life. Will she squander her life as she holds onto the past or will she find a way forward? That's the central question in this film. Kim Hee Sun, whose character seems impenetrable for much of the film's first half, does a fine job of portraying this tormented young woman.

The resolution of "Wanee & Junah" flows naturally from the events of the story and ties up this complex -- but superficially simple -- story in an emotionally satisfying fashion. I can recommend this movie for a general audience, but I urge viewers to be patient with it. Trust me, it will make sense in the end.

SIMPLE ROMANTIC LOVE STORY Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Watching this movie is like reading a book, which isn’t a totally bad thing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s completely boring although there are moments when you think it’ll take you forever to finish it. On the positive side, you get the chance to absorb every little detail. Every word and every touching line. If you like simple and classic love stories, then you should get a copy of this movie. I wouldn’t say it’s the best movie but I would still recommend it. I believe it would’ve been much better if only the lead actress gave more justice to the character she’s playing. But she did fine, even if she could have done better. Aside from that, the story was indeed beautifully and dramatically written. You'll also enjoy the special features. This movie for me is still worth your while...

Just ok Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
I saw the preview for this movie and had to buy it. Unfortunately the preview/trailer was better than the movie itself. The movie was basically a love triangle and dealt with human feelings of selfishness and moments lost in time. However, it was just ok, nothing that left you reassesing your life or anything. I would recommend this movie for fans of the stars only.

Great movie Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is probably Kim Hee Sun's best movie. The story is a bit strange but the frustration and emotions that the characters feel seem real. Overall, I'd say its one of the best Korean movies that I've ever seen.

Hyped up movie! Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Most people have said that kim hee sun was great in this movie...i've watched too many of her dramas and movies to know that SHE DID NOT IMPROVE in this film at all!!! She acts like she has cancer or something! (Very typical of female korean drama actresses). The only redeemable part of this movie was Ju jin mo's performance. But then again, he's a more credible actor than Kim Hee Sun.

The movie itself was a bit on the slow side. Only people who have a lot of time in their hands would enjoy the pace otherwise I'll say that 50% of people who aren't familiar with Korean movies/dramas would dislike this movie. But the content of this movie was great...only if they'd selected a better actress for Kim Hee Sun's role!
