Jeong left a great impression on viewers last year with her performance in My Lovely Sam-Soon; this time, she not only takes on the challenge of two roles, she plays against type as a brash country girl. Playful and touching, odd couple romance What Planet Are You From? shows that sometimes love can be found in the most unexpected places.

Successful young director Choi Seung Hui (Kim Rae Won) had the world at his feet, but his life falls apart after the sudden death of his fiance (Jeong Ryeo Won). Three years pass, and he still cannot let go of the past. Seung Hui travels to the countryside to clear his mind, and vows to move on with his life. At this moment, he encounters Bok Shil (Jeong Ryeo Won again), a clumsy and opinionated country girl who greatly resembles his deceased fiance. Seung Hui soon finds his heart opening to love once more, but to start anew, he must overcome the shadows of the past.

MBC <넌 어느 별에서 왔니>는 한국 트렌디 드라마의 설정을 조금씩 뒤튼다. 첫사랑이 살아 돌아오는 대신 똑같이 생긴 여동생이 나오고, 능력 있는 남자와 아무것도 모르는 여자의 이야기인 줄 알았더니 여자가 갑자기 재벌집 손녀임이 밝혀지며, 신데렐라가 된 줄 알았던 여자는 집에 들어간 뒤 오히려 불행해진다.

즉, <넌 어느 별에서 왔니>는 드라마의 익숙한 설정을 다른 방식으로 이용한다. 언니를 사랑한 남자와 그 동생이라는 기막힌 사연을 가진 승희(김래원)와 복실(정려원)은 그 때문에 사랑이 방해당하지만, 그 때문에 서로를 포기하진 않는다. 누가 뭐라 하건 그들은 서로를 사랑하고, 만나면 상황이 어떻든 행복한 연애를 한다. 남이 뭐라 하건 연인들의 만남은 행복하고 즐겁다.

<넌 어느 별에서 왔니>는 그 행복한 연애의 힘으로 남녀 주인공들이 허구한 날 눈물을 흘리며 “우린 이래서 안 돼!”라고 외치는 트렌디 드라마의 새로운 접근법을 제시했다. 그 중에서도 승희가 외국으로 가려는 복실을 잡고 공항에서 함께 달리는 장면은 <넌 어느 별에서 왔니>의 연애관을 집약한다. 아무리 힘들고 어려워도, 만나면 그냥 좋은 사람이 있다면 일단 잡아라. 그리고 달려라. 최승희의 말처럼, 인생은 예측 불가능이다. 그럴 때 할 수 있는 건 오직 하나, 달리고 달리는 것뿐이다.

첫 단편영화가 세계 영화제에 입상하며 촉망받는 기대주로 떠오른 승희는 호주에서 열린 수상 기념 파티에서 고교 선배 정훈(박시후)으로부터 소개받은 혜수(정려원)에게 첫 눈에 반한다.
하지만 혜수가 사고로 죽자 승희는 실의에 빠지고 그러던 중 정훈의 제의로 귀국해 뮤직비디오 촬영을 맡게 된다. 촬영 장소를 찾을 겸 강원도로 여행 간 승희는 그 곳에서 혜수와 너무나도 닮은 김복실(정려원)을 만나 새로운 인연을 시작하는데… 복실이 혜수의 친동생 혜림으로 밝혀지면서 이들의 사랑은 주위의 격렬한 반대에 부딪친다.

Definitely a tearjerking series! I can't believe I finished all the 16 chapters in just 2 nights. I can't resist watching it. Not just the actor is handsome but also, he will surely move your emotions. Very expressive eyes!!! The story is also funny but more often than not, you'll have a heavy heart.
Stairway to heaven made me cry but this one is different -- REALLY nice to watch.
Makes me feel like going back to Korea again...

this was a really good drama. interesting plot, and a nice OST. there are a lot of funny and cute moments too. kim raewon and jung ryeowon have good chemistry together. jung ryeowon was so good and she was so lovable as bokshil. im yejin was also really good, and her scenes with jung ryeowon were touching.

This Korean drama tickles and wrenches the heart all at once, so you're brought into an emotional roller coaster ride, with huge dives and wild turns, a gradual stop and a smooth and relaxing journey afterwards.

The plot would initially come off as simple, ordinary even, that it can be summarized in three sentences - guy loses girlfriend; guy falls in love again with someone who looks like former girlfriend; latter girlfriend turns out to be former girlfriend's younger sister. The beauty of this plot, however, lies in the emotions that can be evoked from it. Realistic doubts and proprietary issues are tackled. Even the disbelief that could be raised by such a plot was addressed in the drama - people have a hard time accepting what isn't norm. Therein lies the drama's effectiveness. It creates an emotional and moral turmoil that by the time the guy admits to loving the girl for who she is, you're drawn - hook, line and sinker.

Now, the lead actors. This is Kim Rae Won at his absolute best. He depicted his character with just the right touch that nothing was underplayed nor overplayed. The shouting that's so typical of him even came out as cute rather than annoying. He brings to his character a level of maturity and childlike quality, which you can see in a person in love, that I find so endearing. He convincingly portrays the guy with conflicting emotions that he does not need words to express what he feels - just look at that face and those eyes.

Jeong Ryeo Won is not afraid to goof around and there lies her advantage. She appears so frsh and innocent on screen that I'll forgive her ridiculous pigtails. And it's amazing how the tears come so easily with her. A little refinement in somewhat exaggerated motions and she'll be fine.

This is not a heavy, complicated drama but there are moments when your heart's tugged a little that the few comedic scenes among friends and colleagues are a welcome respite.

Check out the scene at Jeju Island when KRW's character asked for Hye Su's (his former girlfriend) blessing on their (Seung Hui and Bok Shil) relationship - bittersweet; my most favorite scene in the drama.

I have read a lot reviews regarding Which star are you from from different websites. This would be my first time to openly write a review considering I have watched a lot of koreanovelas. I first came to know WSAUF from Channel 2 and after watching one episode, (probably the second chapter),I made sure I would have a copy asap. Up until now, I am still imagining Kim Rae Won. Based from this series, he is now my no. 1 korean actor. I have seen him in other korean series and he absolutely looks his best in this. His clothes are so yuppy and he is so sexy even without undressing him! There is something with the way he carries his character that is so remarkable esp when he does his I-love-you-very-much-but-I-can't show-you scenes. I emphatize with the character that I deeply felt the agony he feels within.
Unlike what was written on other negative reviews, I think Jung Rye Won gave justice to her character. I even checked the web to verify if the same person portrayed the first and the second lady. That is how effective she was. She can be so elegant and glamorous at one point and turned courageous and free-spirited at another. And the more I researched about this lady, the more fascinating her personality becomes. She can speak English!Fluently! even better than the lead actor! what more could you ask for!?!
Although, I would still want kim rae won beside me when I wake up one day. Ü
