Kim Myeong-min's "Pacemaker" landed on the third spot on its first day run at the Korean box office race in 18 January. Other films that were released on that day are Hwang Jeong-min & Uhm Jung-hwa's "Dancing Queen", Ahn Seong-gi's "Unbowed", and Eom Tae-woong & Jeong Ryeo-won's "Never Ending Story" that took the 1st, 2nd and 4th places, respectively.
Figures released by the Korean Film Council (KOBIS) revealed that on 18 January, "Pacemaker" sold 22,364 tickets and grossed 158,414,000 Korean won in ticket sales. The heartwarming movie was screened 1,693 times in 358 screens nationwide.

Overall, "Pacemaker" landed on the 5th place, while Hollywood's "Puss in Boots" took the lead. Another Hollywood movie that joined the top 5 list is Tom Cruise's "Mission Impossible 4" which took the 4th spot.

Despite the relatively slow start, "Pacemaker" is generating interest due to its emotional appeal and impressive performance of its ensemble cast, particularly its lead actor, Kim Myeong-min who has once again completely melted into his new character, Joo Man Ho. Positive reviews from the press and audience, and strong word of mouth is also expected to boost ticket sales in the coming days.
"Pacemaker" revolves around the life of a retired national team Pacemaker Joo Man Ho (Kim Myeong-min), who now works as a fried chicken delivery man. As a Pacemaker, he never got to run for himself, and as a brother, he sacrificed many things to raise his younger brother (Choi Jae-woong). One day, he gets scouted by his then-coach (Ahn Seong-gi) to run again, this time to pace for the up-and-coming star marathoner (Choi Tae-joon) at the coming London 2012 Olympics. With this opportunity, Joo Man Ho gets the chance to fulfill his lifelong dream of running for himself and finishing a full marathon race. Will he be able to make it despite the many obstacles that stand in the way?
"Pacemaker" is the big screen debut of veteran musical director, Kim Dal-jeong. The movie also stars actress Ko Ah-ra as the beautiful and skillful pole vaulter, Yoo Ji Woon.
