21 years of acting Hwang Jung-min

It's Hwang Jung-min's generation. He's a hit with whatever he comes out with. Not that success decides the quality of the actor but success is important for an actor who is in a commercial movie. That doesn't mean the actor gets denigrated. It's fine for the actor to enjoy his rewards once he's achieved 200% of the effort he's made.

"The Himalayas" has currently broken through 7 million audiences. The competition he had with Choi Min-sik however, ended quite easily. Hwang Jung-min's hard work came to light.

He does many movies but that doesn't mean he works like a robot. As everyone knows, Hwang Jung-min's scripts are always shabby and dirty. There's no guarantee that the next movie will be a hit just because the previous one was, so he's always working to the best of his abilities.

"The Himalayas" is going to remain a special movie to him. He's been acting for 21 years now but he still learned a lot and awoke to many things. In a recent interview, Hwang Jung-min said, "It was strange being in a forest of trees after being in the city. I was amazed at the nature in front of me and I realized how weak 'humans' are".

"I decided I should be more modest in life. The Himalayas taught me that". Hwang Jung-min is a nice guy but The Himalayas made him realize a lot of things and made him stay on the right path.

Hwang Jung-min said, "I've become calmer once I've been to The Himalayas. I had to shoot "A Violent Prosecutor" right away but I was always quiet and just observing everyone else when I was on stand-by".

"I think it was because the director was a rookie too. I would have not left the guy alone if I was the old me but I just watched him from afar this time. When I thought something wasn't right, I would ask him to see me privately and I would talk to him in silence".

He talked about his thoughts on 'taking a break'. What Hwang Jung-min has to overcome is his 'work'. He's been on the run for a few years straight without a break and when we told him he needs one, he laughed, "Everyone tells me that, to take a break".

"I don't do work every now and then so everyone worries about me. I also think every movie I make is a struggle I need to overcome. Nothing is easy and sometimes I ask myself if I need a break but 'taking a break' for me is staying at home and not doing anything".

"I like to hear, "Hwang Jung-min did this", "He did it this way", "He could do that?" and things like that. I want those who saw "The Veteran" to feel differently about "The Himalayas". Even when I am taking a break, I can't stay still. I have to work as long as this is my job".
