Oh Yeon Soo lets all her inhibitions loose in A Second Proposal, a compelling drama about a feisty "ajumma" (or married woman) who after divorcing her cheating husband, struggles to find footing in a society ridden with discrimination and stereotypical views towards ajummas. A Second Proposal scored high in the ratings, dominating its time slot and proving that themes like adultery, divorce, and remarriage continue to hit close to home for many viewers. The drama also stars Kim Young Ho (Salt Doll) as Oh's husband and Oh Ji Ho (Couple Or Trouble) who falls in love with the heroine. A tribute to human endurance, will, and determination, this tearjerker offers inspirational messages through the fighting spirit of one ordinary woman who just refuses to quit.
Mi Young (Oh Yeon Soo), a full-time housewife with two children and a tender loving husband Min Suk (Kim Young Ho), feels quite content and secure in her marriage, but her happiness is about to end. She finds herself thrust into a world of betrayal and bewilderment when she discovers her husband's affair with another woman, Hyun Jung (Ho Young Ran), a home-shopping network host.

Heartwarming Drama
Heartwarming Drama
| I've been anticipating the release of this drama after I watched it on TV series. What I like about this drama is that it is so close to reality. I mean, situation like this happen. I like how this story is sometimes comical and sometimes so full of drama that just breaks your heart. I love the story that I wanted to own one so I can watch it over and over again. Also, I would say the soundtrack is just so amazing that it really brought out the best of the story. I say, Don't miss this... |

A Simple yet Phenomenal Drama
A Simple yet Phenomenal Drama
| With all the Korean dramas banking on the popularity of younger stars, this drama sets it all apart. At first, I thought the drama was not worth watching since I felt that it was different from all the Korean dramas i've watched since it is for a more matured audience but suddenly i found myself enjoying every single episode of it (eventhough I have to struggle with understanding it because I watched it without subtitles!) since it represented a simple story of a housewife in a different manner, and as real as it gets! I had my time laughing over the first part of the episodes and then on the latter part it makes my heart break. This time I saw a drama that reveals the real side of family life presented in a light but substantial manner.I was not even aware that this drama was so popular in Korea until I read it on the internet. The performance of the actors of this drama made me watch this more (eventhough I only know Oh Yeon-soo and Oh Ji-ho, as I have seen them in their previous projects) because they gave justice to each of their characters by giving their heart and soul for it. I hope that Korean drama fans will have the time to check out this drama since it is done in good taste and it is really worth watching |

What can I say?
| True, I had originally been skeptic when a short description of the drama had been released before its airing, considering that KBS had touched on a similar subject in its weekend drama Terms of Endearment/Conditions of Love (this series should be on DVD as well!) that had concluded just recently before The Second Proposal's airing. The very short descpription provided did not do the series any justice; after taking one glimpse at the preview trailer provided at KBS, I decided to give the drama a chance, and ended up impatiently waiting for each episode as it appeared in Korea and watching it RAW, hardly understanding what was being said. My Mom said I was crazy! I then viewed the drama a second time with english subs, thanks to KBS-LA, though there were major cuts due to time alloted for commercials. I was wishing to see a release of the DVD set because of those cuts/edits by KBS-LA, and was literally jumping for joy when I saw the drama in the Coming Soon/Pre-order section at Yesasia. The drama is worth it! It had me rooting, tearing, and laughing. The cast complemented each other so well...at the KBS 2004 Drama Awards, this was the drama that had a total of 5 cast members winning awards, from Oh Yeon Soo, Oh Ji Ho, Huh Young Ran, right down to the 2 little kids Lee Joon Hyuk and Han Ji Hye who portrayed Oh Yeon Soo's children. And who can forget Oh Ji Ho's rendition of "One Man"? |

A Refreshing Surprise
A Refreshing Surprise
| Like many Korean mini-series such as Rooftop Room Cat and Sassy Girl Choon Hyang, the Second Proposal was never thought to do so well with the Korean public. A touching story about a single mother's determination to make something of herself and at the same, win back the custody of her children is the simple plot line of this particular story. Along the way, she is guided by a number of different friends, especially that of a young man played by Oh Ji-Oh (Super Rookie). The relationship that develops between these two characters is warm, but at the time quite comical. There are moments of pure laughter, and other times when you just cry along with the heartbroken mother. A drama to be enjoyed by teens, young adults and adults alike. A definite must see for those who enjoying watching quality K-dramas. |
