Anyone who's been to Korea has probably heard this. Older relatives have said it so many times that I can hear it in my dreams at night. Foreign colleagues say it's almost a greeting from taxi drivers at Incheon airport:
"KIMCHI IS SO GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH!"
It is good news that kimchi, which I love and eat at almost every meal, has great health benefits. But in Korea it's taken as a fact that Kimchi is a panacea and its medicinal value is almost never questioned. I was always curious about what actually makes kimchi good for you, apart from it being made out of vegetables.
That is why today I am going to talk all about why kimchi is so awesome. This post will not only make your mouth water but also make you love kimchi even more!

1. Kimchi helps you lose weight!
What great news for all of us who are constantly on a diet! Sunmoon University did research on two groups of lab rats, feeding one group food made out of kimchi extracts and ordinary food to the other. After four trials, the weight and fat percentage of the group that ate food made of kimchi was significantly lower than the other group.
How does kimchi promote weight loss? Red pepper, the main ingredient of kimchi has an active component called capsaicin and researchers at the University of Oklahoma reported that eating red pepper burns calories equivalent to a 20 minute walk! Being fermented, kimchi is also a pro-biotic, which many help you digest food more easily.

2. Kimchi makes you look younger!
Stay away from plastic surgery, eat more kimchi! A group of researchers at Pusan National University discovered that fermented kimchi contains lots of antioxidants that helps slow down skin aging. By eating kimchi, you also get a good dose of vitamin C and beta carotene, both of which are good for keeping skin healthy and elastic.
3. Kimchi Relives Stress!
Kimchi is good for beauty but also for inner peace! Research by Pharma Foods proved that kimchi helps to reduce stress by approximately 20 percent. In Japan, gum and candy made with kimchi extracts are very popular and especially good for those who work in stressful environments.
Born in Korea and raised on three different continents, I have always been enthusiastic to share the uniqueness of Korean culture and design. On top of that, the advanced level of Korean technology makes me proud to call myself Korean and motivates me to spread technology related news to more people around the world. The list of things I like (and like to do) is endless: Shopping, Gummy jellies, Lilies... and it goes on
