AHN Seong-gi Successful in China

Ahn Seong-gi stars opposite Hong Kong star Andy Lau in the epic "A Battle of Wits". The film was released in China about a month before the end of 2006, but still managed to become the most successful film at the box office in the second part of the year. The film also enjoys commercial and critical success in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Battle of Wits is a co-production between Korea, Hong Kong, China and Japan. Besides AHN, Korean contributions to the project are made by the actor Choi Si-won and the studio Boram Entertainment. CJ Entertainment distributes the film in Korea from January 11.

Ahn Seong-gi received favorable criticism from the Chinese media for his Chinese language acting role. He plays a general, leading an army of a powerful kingdom to invade another nation.

Andy Lau stars in the lead role. His character comes to the rescue of the peaceful invaded country. While the pan-Asian star Lau was in Korea to promote the film together with AHN and CHOI, heexpressed his interest in acting in a Korean film. Lau is the recipient of the Filmmaker of the Year award at the 2006 Pusan International Film Festival for his support and promotion of upcoming directors.

"A Battle of Wits" is directed by Jacob Chang from Hong Kong and is based on the Japanese historical drama manga Bokko, which is set in a China plagued by wars.
