The five members of K-pop boy band TVXQ will put on a performance together for a Nippon Television music show on Thursday in Japan, the first time in about three months that all members will perform together. Three of the five members are currently in a dispute with their agency SM Entertainment.
They also plan to take the stage together for another Japanese TV music show in early December, according to the Japanese broadcasters' Web sites, Monday.
The news of their performances in Japan came just two days after the three renegade members ― Xiah,
Micky Yoochun and
Kim Jae-joong ― expressed their friendship with the two other band members at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Award (MAMA) in the Jamsil Gymnasium in southeastern Seoul, Saturday.
U-Know and
Max, who are not involved in the dispute, did not attend the show as SM Entertainment boycotted the year-end music festival.
After receiving the Best Asian Stars award, the trio said it would have been better if all five members had stood together on the same stage.
"This award was only possible because five people all worked together", Xiah said.
Hero also said, "I'm happy and thankful as this prize is from Asian fans. I don't know whether our two friends are watching this but I want to say that we love them".
It is the first comment they have made about the other two members since they defied SM Entertainment over what they called an unfair employment contract.
The five members are scheduled to appear at Nippon Television Network's "2009 best hit song festival", on Thursday, and Fuji TV's music festival on Dec. 12.
The band has not performed domestically since the conflict started, though they have occasionally held shows in other Asian nations.
동방신기 일본 공연에 전 멤버 참석
해체위기를 맞은 동방신기의 다섯 멤버 전원이 오는 26일 일본 고베의 월드기념홀에서 열리는 '베스트 히트 가요제 2009'에 출연한다고 SM 엔터테인먼트가 23일 밝혔다. 멤버 전원이 공연에 참여하기는 3개월만에 처음이다.
동방신기는 '2009 베스트 히트 가요제'을 시작으로 12월2일 후지TV 'FNS 가요제 2009'에도 출연할 계획이다.
지난 21일 국내에서 열린 '2009 엠넷 아시안 뮤직 어워드(MAMA)' 시상식에서 영웅재중, 시아준수, 믹키유천 등 3명만이 출연해 눈길을 모았지만 이번 '베스트 히트 가요제 2009'에는 5명이 전원 참석할 예정이다.
이들 3명은 최우수 아시아 스타상을 받은 뒤 5명이 함께 무대에 섰으면 좋았을 것이라고 소회를 밝혔다.
시아준수는 "5명이 함께 노력했기 때문에 이 상이 가능했던 것"이라고 말했다.
영웅재중은 "아시아의 팬들로부터 이 상을 받게 돼 행복하고 감사하다. 혹시 보고 있을 두 친구에게 사랑한다는 말을 전하고 싶다"고 말했다.
이는 3명의 멤버들이 소속사와 전속계약 관련 분쟁을 겪으며 2명의 멤버들에 대해 밝힌 첫 코멘트다. 팬들은 3명 멤버들의 등장에 놀라고 이들의 멘트에 한번 더 놀랐다.
동반신기는 분쟁이 벌어진 후 국내에서는 공연한 적이 없고, 가끔 아시아 다른 나라에서만 공연을 해왔다.
