Animation film "Onuri" wins two awards at Chicago Children's Film Festival

The short animation film "Onuri" by director Lee Seong-gang won the Certificate of Excellence and the 2nd Prize at the 22nd Chicago International Children's Film Festival, which was held in October in Chicago, USA, reported the film's distributor Indie Story on Dec. 22.

"Onuri", a two-dimensional animation version of a Jeju legend, is a story about a girl named "Onuri", who lives with a crane near the Woncheon River. One day she is abducted by intruders and forced to go to a remote island, where she meets a girl who has read 400,000 books, a boy who wears rainy clouds as garments, and a monster serpent who cannot ascend to heaven.

The film's director, Lee, won the grand prix of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 2002 for his 2001 film "My Beautiful Girl, Mari" in the long film category, and the Korea Animation Award.
