"April Snow" Concert to Change Korea's Performance Culture

The live "April Snow" concert, which will be featured in the movie "April Snow", co-starring Bae Yong-joon and Son Ye-jin, has drawn much attention recently as it is the first ever concert featuring the live performances of top artists to be included in a movie.

The concert was modeled after the 2002 concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of British Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, which is widely regarded as the greatest concert in history. Held in Buckingham Palace, the concert featured the world's best artists of our time including Queen, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Ozzy Osbourne, Elton John, Ricky Martin and Paul McCartney. The "April Snow" concert will borrow features from the British concert while also adapting the setting in accordance with Korean society. The concert will undoubtedly stand out from all other concerts ever held in Korea by featuring a large protruding round stage and a huge screen.

The director of the movie and the music company M&F, the organizer of the concert, said Korea's performance culture should emulate other countries where part of the proceeds from concerts are donated to society. He also stressed the importance of presenting the audience with more opportunities to participate in the concerts so that artists performing onstage could "become one" with their audiences, which is the purpose of the "April Snow" concert. He said he was impressed to see many artists willing to participate in the concert when they were told that the entire amount of the proceeds would be donated to the needy.

The four-hour "April Snow" concert, which will present the audience with a chance to both enjoy a top-notch performance and become part of a high-profile movie, will be held April 24 at 6 p.m. at the open-air theater of Yonsei University.
