Arirang TV Hosts Peace Concert to Commemorate 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit

What you're hearing right now is Korean traditional music, but with a twist.
And it's being used to promote Korea ahead of the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit.
Arirang TV hosted the "Peace Concert" on Saturday at the main theater of the National Gugak Center in southern Seoul.
The concert presented performances of various forms of gugak, ranging from traditional to fusion.
Korean traditional musicians like Kim Yong-woo sang modern versions of Korean folk songs while martial artisans performed taekwondo to the rhythm of Korean traditional music.
The Second Vice Minister for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism who attended the concert says that the power of the Korean Wave comes from such a mixture of traditions and modernity.

[Interview : Kim Yong-hwan, 2nd Vice Minister Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism] "K-pop is loved worldwide probably because it combines Korea's traditional folk culture with a contemporary style".

And ambassadors from around 20 different countries who are interested in Korean culture attended the concert and commented on Arirang TV's contribution to promoting the arts.

I saw K-pop for the first time when I came to Seoul and I was very impressed with it".
